1979 Gs500e/550e front dampers upgrade?

Hi,
just wonder if there stramt upgrade springs for the forks? I have read on other old bikes that they have changed to progressive springs instead of stock. Is there a similar solution for the gs500 as well? Also what oil is good to use on them?

Even better than progressive springs are good straight-rate springs. Not sure what resources you have in your country, but our favorites here are Sonic Springs and RaceTech. Both of them have selections for different rates, which will be determined by your weight and riding style. For any of them, 10w fork oil will be a good starting point.

If you can't find springs... cut the close wound end off your stock springs & replace with a length of PVC pipe as a spacer. It's the best you can do with stock parts.

I believe Sonic Springs will still ship to Norway, we did when I owned the company.
