    Yup, the aftermarket kits are awful. And expensive. And incomplete.

    Just don't.
    1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.

        Lovely job. I'm going to have a go at my 650 katana brakes soon. They look very similar to yours, just a red orange colour. Oh, and really horrible condition.

          I am amazed how much easier it is to back out of the garage now. It also feels like the bike is way more powerful. While the brakes were dragging it felt like the engine only put out about 75 HP.

          Now it feels like at least 76. haha

            My horrid brakes. To be fair, they do match the general condition of the bike. I'll start a project thread for the bike soon.

                What bike is that? I've never seen inverted forks on a GS. LOL

                Oh man, I hope you're able to back that nipple out. Brake caliper can be had for pretty cheap on Ebay, for my 850 at least.

                  Yes I enjoyed the inverted forks thread too.

                  My bike is from the other side of the world, Japan home market model. It's a 1983 GS650GZ katana. The nipple I snapped was in one of the antidive units. I could blank that off of I am unable to drill the sub of the nipple out. But I like weird stuff so want to keep the anti dive and set of I can make it work.

                    I was really just trying to make you laugh referring to your picture being upside down/ inverted. I'm still not sure why some photos get flipped around when they're posted, but others stay right side up.

                      I just wanted to add I have never had issues with splitting 2 piece calipers on any bike I've worked on over the years - never had to drill the heads off the allen bolts or anything like that.

                      The o ring / seal between the caliper halves can get caked up with the same corrosion you find under the piston seals, so it's always a good idea to split the calipers and attend to this IMO. Plus the pistons and seals are far easier to insert with the caliper in 2 pieces.

                      VL1500 Intruder (swapped for Z1300), ZX9R Streetfighter (lets face it - too fast....), 1984 GSX750EF, 1984 GSX1100EF (AKA GS1150)
                      And a bunch of other crap Yamahas....
