    doesthislook right?

    still havent fitted the piece correctly, i think this is the way it goes but i have no clue where the piece sits in place. any advice on how it sits now with this picture taken?

    No. See image on page 2 (Guide Pad) and page 5.


    I feel like we've been here before.

    They don't go on that piece at all. They go on the part that is bolted to the fork. The little tabs on the ends of your pads need to slide on those little steel springs. They tend to not want to stay where you put them as you get everything together.

    go to 14:34 of this video. I'ts a different caliper and the pad is shaped a bit different than yours but the principle is the same. And I wouldn't use that much grease. That guy's got grease everywhere.
