The rubber game

Predictable throughout the life of the tire, but rather short-lived.

Short lived is actually a plus for some of us. I don't put many miles on the 1100E (been riding mostly off road the last couple years) and having long lived tires just means that my tires get very old before they need changing. The 230's are kind of 1/2 the life, 1/2 the price of the more expensive rubber, so the cost per mile is very competitive. Since I change my own tires all I am out is the time and effort to change rubber more often, which is an acceptable cost to me for having fresher tires.

FWIW, I got 9600km out of my first rear 230 with a reasonable amount of two up riding. It is very heavily flat spotted in the center but not quite down to the wear bars.The front still looks near new at 9600km so I just changed the rear and will do both the next time. I expect to get an easy 18,000km out of the front from the way it looks now.

the 230s are what's on my GS850G right now. Bang for the buck is fantastic.

I agree, they offer excellent value if the relatively short life is acceptable to you.
