I speak Canadian... let me have a go at this too...

Is the noise coming from the front brakes? Or the rear brakes?

First thing's first. What bike are we talking about?

Are you PULLING/SQUEEZING on the front brake lever, or are you PRESSING/STEPPING on the rear brake pedal when this noise occurs?

Please create a signature w/ your bike info in it. Go to Settings at the top right of any page. You'll figure it out from there.

c'mon guys, cut the man some slack here. He said pressing the brake lever, wouldn't that indicate the rear?

Curious Jeff, what part of the country you from? It's a big place

Like the other members have suggested, more details would be helpful. Metal on metal does squeek in my experience. Really bad squeeks indicate something caught in the pad or no pads remain...

Isn't there a (copper?) brake grease that's supposed to be used?

                    And we still don’t know:
                    what bike?
                    front or rear?
                    disc or drum?

And what are supposed to assume from this? “my father gave me an R1 ceramic brake pads together with rotors”.

                    A Yamaha R1?

All honest questions that could lead to answers. We want to help but…..
