DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Why postal service in Canada is dying

Thanks Garth. Their website told me that, too. Apparently there is a moment when you can pay online, but once they assign a delivery it has to be paid in person. I have not had to pay anything to Canada Post for years so I am not sure where they would send it. The nearest post office that I...

Why postal service in Canada is dying

The initial part of the shipping, from USA, is already completed: it cleared Customs on Monday.... It was only after customs clearance was completed that the Canada Post track system said delivery may be this week....next week....or possibly sometime in the third week. Wait a minute.....12...

Why postal service in Canada is dying

I can only guess why this is called "tracking" as its status is totally unknown until it shows up. I have to pay taxes on it so I should be home on day of delivery, ...but CP tells me to guess at which day within more than two-weeks

How strict was school back in the day?

Me, too. I do not know what led to the moment, but I clearly recall the last strap in my middle school. One teacher held my arm out while a second did the swinging with a webbed strap, of about 1 1/2 inches width. My hands were heavilly calloused from hard work and when the teacher made the...

There actually are times...........when a rare politician proves they are real people

This is a very good point. Waaayyy back in the 1980s we had two local newspapers. delivered weekly, for free. They were well-read by most residents. In fact, many residents looked forward to getting the papers each week. I wrote many articles for them and learned I had a small following as...

    Toronto is # 1

You will see more of it today, according to weather forecasters. Of course, that applies to us, too. Just looking upwards yesterday reminded me of my first air arrival at Los Angeles, years ago. We first saw, and then descended through, a thick yellow cloud of smog and landed in a form...

    Toronto is # 1

Today's forecast is smoke, followed by more smoke and night finally closing off the sight of smoke. just leaving behind the smell, like smoke from a stale cigar lingers and insults the nose. No argument about it, the moment you open your door or window smoke hits you in the nose and eyes...

    Toronto is # 1

Yes, it has been a bit warm...yesterday's official temp for Toronto was 37.6Celsius....just about 100 degrees Fahrenheit I know it can get higher than that in parts of Ooosa ( highest for me was 116F in Kansas City) but 100F is very unusual here. The smoke, as unusual as it may be, is...

    Toronto is # 1

I am not a smoker and never have been, but inhaling smoke today is unavoidable. Being ranked as number one is hardly a moment for rejoicing,, but today (and hopefully only temporarily) Toronto has the worst air pollution of any major city in the world. (LA ranks 89th) The actual wildfires...

There actually are times...........when a rare politician proves they are real people

Most definitely true! Your words are right on target. When it comes to full communication of most (perhaps all) types, knowing your audience is critically important.

There actually are times...........when a rare politician proves they are real people

I chuckled at this exchange because it brought a focus on something that I noticed many years ago: we may use the same language, but we do not all use it to communicate in the same way. We do not all configure our sentences at the same level and definitely not with the same effectiveness...
