    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Thoughts about the website in general

Same lagging login here in New Mexico. Hope all is well with Frank and the workings of this great forum. Not sure if I should be concerned, but the non loading pages and not getting a confirmation message that a donation to the site has been received does seem odd. I wonder how large that copy...

Replace Gear Sift shaft Oil Seal?

Haven't attempted it yet, but I'm reading that if you remove the shift lever and can get a drywall screw started into the rubber seal, it should pull out. Clean around the seal and smear little grease on the new one then use a deep socket to evenly tap it in.

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Sounds like a great time riding, @Redman What a bonus not running into cars on twisty roads. That bridge looks super fun to cross, without the wind preferably. Thanks for sharing.

Chrome front mudguard - to spray ?

This guy has me wanting to spray some parts chrome. The clear he put on afterward kind of ruined it though. If nothing else, you have to see his paint can shaker. I'll be making one of those for sure!

Maybe he's out riding. Hopefull not sitting there scrolling through photos trying to decide on a theme. If the latter, we've all been there. Holler for some suggestions if needed. You can always just through an idea out there and find a picture later. On the other hand post a photo and go...

    New to the site!

Hey @Tristan2000 Welcome aboard. If in locating the source of the oil leak and smoke you decide the engine needs an overhaul, you'd probably be able to swap the entire engine from the 1000 if it's a G model. Assuming that engine is worth the effort, of course.

    Reviving an 82 GS1100GK

The flame from a propane weed burner made quick work of stripping paint. It also proved to be the most effective way to remove the failed tank liner. What an absolute disaster that liner was. I tried kerosene, paint thinner, stripper, lacquer thinner and acetone. Acetone was slowly dissolving...
