    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    '82 GS650G choke assy.

This guy goes over to the left in your photo. Between the spring and the left (in your photo) choke bracket. That locks the end of the cable in there. But you need the curved tube the cable goes through on top of carb 3.

    Tracing Down a Vacuum Leak

Maybe your petcock is leaking air into the vacuum line. Did you try plugging the vacuum port on the carb and then just running it from a remote bottle? Just throwing ideas at the wall...

    MIXTURE SCREWS PLEASE

There are two different styles of those needles, depending on your carbs. I have the same ones you have Chuck.

    MIXTURE SCREWS PLEASE

The o-ring and washer usually stay in the hole. Hard to see that they are still in there. Take a paper clip and bend a little tiny "L" at the end to pick them out.

Replace Gear Sift shaft Oil Seal?

I've done this on my 850. **TIP** - put some tape on the splines where the shifter lever mounts to the shaft before you push the new seal over it. Protects the inner rubber on the way by.

    How many clutch plates?

According to the parts fiche and required numbers on several parts sites.. this looks correct. But the actual drawing does make you question the number 🤔

what did you wrench on today??

I have the parts to do this job also.. just can't bring myself to do it in the 108* heat of Texas we've been experiencing for the past 4 weeks.

Anyone having issues with Cycle Recycle Part 2?

I also did not get NGK caps, although the photos and description on their site leads you to believe that you will get genuine NGK. I believe they were also the K&S. Was disappointing.

    GS Sightings

Just found this photo on my phone. Saw this one in Bismarck, ND in June of 2016 while out on a ride along the Missouri River.

Lots of entries this week. Nice! I'll vote for Rob S. I wonder if that fixed any of the oil leaks?
