A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

#3 cylinder pipe cold and oil leaking from #3 cylinder

You may not see it. My Norton seeped oil from the rear valve cover gasket and it went down to the area of the head gasket. It wasn't visible up top at all. I've had the same experience on GSs I fixed with the tach seal. I think you need to clean the whole area and use talc on the area. It's a...

Not mine, but came across on FB, $350 for a GS500

Someone near Fresno could pick up a good deal, parts bike or fix it up. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1019371354105761/

#3 cylinder pipe cold and oil leaking from #3 cylinder

Agree on probability of tach drive leaking, many think it's a head gasket. I've gotten a few GS's oil tight with that fix. On the GS1100E there's also the sealing nut and o-ring on the cylinder studs at the front of the cam tunnel which is also mistaken for head gasket leak. I don't see those...

    1974 Laverda 3C

I will do a video after I install the new ignition. It's running well, but the ignition is said to be the biggest single improvement to these bikes. The advance curve is really basic, and at this point it's just not very responsive or torquey off idle without a fistful of throttle to get the...

    Ignition coil replacements

That looks like a good find! I did a lot of searching recently for coils for both of my non-Suzukis, and prob would have gone with them had I found 'em. One is a '74 Laverda triple that uses a single output and a dual. I'm upgrading the ignition, and the original Bosch are not suitable. The...

    1974 Laverda 3C

Got bike of the month at the Orange County vintage bike meet. Always some good bikes there for a small show. Bike runs great, but I need to install a new ignition/alternator coil & brain combo that I purchased (ouch $$$). They say that it really helps. The old Bosch unit I'm running is a...

Dark Blue GS1100E -Close automotive color?

Yes, it was. They sent it in a gigantic yellow plastic tub with a metal ring with a clamp sealing the top. It was probably a 25-gallon container. Weird. A complete waste of money, about $250. Not even close, nearer to red than orange.

Dark Blue GS1100E -Close automotive color?

I've researched and found starry blue and space blue, but maybe one or the other is the lighter color on the ES blue and white model. There are threads on this forum about the topic that may help. I think all those codes are obsolete. I bought some paint from the UK that was supposed to match my...

#3 cylinder pipe cold and oil leaking from #3 cylinder

If it was running great, why replace the coils? And which coils did you buy? I had a bike with #3 cylinder cold and inop, and it was the no-name blue coil the PO had fitted. I had the originals in a box, put them on, and the bike ran perfectly after that. I also did a relay mod, which gained me...

Dark Blue GS1100E -Close automotive color?

I didn't know that about the Suzuki color. I didn't inspect it close enough in the sunlight, I suppose. From an angle, you can see just a hint of purple in the Honda color, so that's good info.

Dark Blue GS1100E -Close automotive color?

2004 Honda Pilot midnight blue pearl B518P is very good. Chuck Hahn helped me out with it and said color-wise it's >99%, the pearl is not the same, and it's a base/clear. For me it was perfectly fine though.

    82-83 GS1100E carbs BS34SS

I have several sets of those in various states of assembly. One or two of them have been dunked and are nice and clean. 'll have to check. I'm cleaning out stuff, so I'll take a look. I also have 4 very nice K&N pods and Dynojet stuff - jets, drilled out slides, plus tons of screws, rack...

Old timers trick for stuck bolts

I have always had success with ATF/acetone, heat, and ice. If it's a steel bolt into aluminum, drizzle the acetone/ATF on it (it sizzles, have a fan blowing), then drop an ice cube on the steel.. 300F gets it. If it's stubborn, some whacks and heat/cool cycles. Interference fit bearings drop...
