All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Congrats Trevor! Haha yeah I'd typically see "oh there's a Kat" but had to break that this time 🤣

I'm gonna break my bias for a change and go for Burque because we just don't get scenery like that over here.

Oh one I can have a go in! Photo from a place called Ocean View overlooking Mt Mee on one of our regular Saturday morning rides in 2024 (mine's the middle Kat).

Oh I remember that! I've recently just re-joined myself but I think I stopped logging in before you had it done. Good luck with the sale!

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Awesome Trevor, looking good! Disregard my question in the other thread, the photo answers it :D I just realised I've got close to 40,000kms on my YSS' now and definitely glad I did, they still feel great!

Look at the fairing fins on this Kat

Glad to hear it Trevor! Which ones did you opt for? I went for the middle of the road with preload, damping, and rebound adjustment, but not the top ones with separate high speed/low speed adjustments because that would just confuse me.

I have to go Redman... not the first time I've reassembled something to find a bit left out!

Oh well done! And yep all the same GSX750S (up to '83), GSX1000S, GSX1100S Kats all use the same body parts, although there are some colour differences along the way. In '84/85 the 750 went to the pop up which is quite different.

Look at the fairing fins on this Kat

I started with Koni's on mine but the stanchions were pitted so swapped them out for some cheapie eBay ones. They started off surprisingly good for the price but over time the springs got too soft and I had to wind the preload up but then it felt like being punch in the kidneys on the bumpy...

Yep your fins are all good Trevor! Pointing out is the right way (y) I can't say for sure if the buy/sell market is good for them here (my Kat is bike number 3 for me and I still own bike number 2) but yes I have heard the same, and there is definitely a good number of keen Katana enthusiasts...

Look at the fairing fins on this Kat

We've observed a few over the years where the fins (we call them shark fins over here) are put on facing inwards... the front guard absolutely will hit them mid corner under hard braking like that! In terms of the missing seat latch, it's part #45210-49301 and I was able to buy one brand new...

    Sync'ing Mikuni RS34 Flat Slides

Anyone got any tips for sync'ing Mikuni RS34 Flat Slides? These are the current new models (bought new in 2022), not the original versions. I attempted a mechanical sync last weekend using a drill bit and was able to get them pretty close, but it took hours of fiddling. Yesterday I spent about...

    GS500 Starter Motor into '82 GS450E?

Cheers guys... Gemini gave me some references and they all showed clearly the 9 tooth vs. 10 tooth splines as the key difference between the two. Unfortunately, over here all the wreckers/recyclers seem to have disappeared except for a few on eBay, and they tend to only keep the more popular...
