A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Speedometer Calibration?

Looks like they sell a handlebar mount separately that works with this and many of their other models. Not sure if that diameter would work, could probably could make it work with some added rubber. https://www.cycplus.com/products/cycplus-cycling-out-front-bike-mount-designed-for-cycling-computer

What model GS1000 do I have?

After 1981 I believe they were supposed to be standardized to the 17 digit, at least in the US, and are easier to look up. Found these sites also - https://www.oldjapanesebikes.com/mraxl_GT_Resource/frame_engine_id/index.php https://www.atmcteknik.dk/suzuki/ Agreed.. Might be better to copy...

What model GS1000 do I have?

Definitely an L with the chrome rear fender, leading axle forks, and shape of the gas tank. VIN lines up to a 1979 GS1000LN according the this site - https://classicandclassymotorcycles.com/VIN_Lookup_Toolkit/Suzuki-Engine-and-Frame-Numbers-1971-1975-1976-1977-1978-1979-1980.html

Hanging Idle (I know, but bear with me) and different carbs

I think you replaced the petcock with another petcock that is giving you troubles. Was it an aftermarket.. used?? Seems like a fuel restriction, causing your inconsistent issues with the choke also. I'd take it apart and have a look at the diaphragm in there. Maybe it is pinched, or has some...

    Oil Filter Cover

Looks like it was a cover used on several models where they did actually have plug for a drain there. Any position should work for yours. Larger concern is the missing top right stud (maybe it came out with the nut) and the top left stud looks.. broken?
