A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

GS aftermarket parts that actually worked post here

For pods for Mikuni’s the best aftermarket option is Ape. I wouldn’t want those ones from Amazon… I suspect they won’t last long. Ape is about as good as K&N.

Help Me Identify My Calipers and Pads?

Also to note are the ones you’ve got fitted I think require the matching older rotors (no slots) to work from memory so take a good look at it if you have slotted rotors… maybe it’s only the other way they don’t work. All of the later calipers are superior to those round pad ones. perhaps a...

    GS-450 project bike i bought

Yeah, Uni filter or if it’s the wrap around type that has a cap you can buy the Uni filter foam and cut your own strip to the right size. :)

    Tyre Valve

I should think you have a tube type no? At least on the front (from memory the 80G’s had tubeless on the rear only). I don’t see how you can fit from the outside either… :)

Ahh that’s a shame mate. Glad you’ve found it a good home! :)

    Rear Suspension

:) Change the rear springs for something softer Chris. you might be able to soften the damping depending on what they are if it’s adjustable. You need to figure out what is on there in order to replace. You can measure the coils annd calculate it and/or buy something new specific for your...

    1979 GS850 fork alignment questions

The stem nut has nothing to do with your fork alignment. It could have perhaps been shocked loose but I doubt it. Use an open ended wrench to tighten is the easiest way. possible that you’ve bent the handlebar. Ensure the fork legs are the same height in the triple trees as a first step then...

    1982 GS750T Front Fork Mystery...

Yes, something weird like that! I don’t think I’d be too happy riding it, it seems like the fork legs vs stantions are a mismatch or something is bent…

    1982 GS750T Front Fork Mystery...

You can probably make some 37mm forks work if you also mount the triple trees. You may have to mess with steerer stops and gauge mounting is the only thing.

Hopefully you’ve rejetted the carbs to suit too…

    1982 GS750T Front Fork Mystery...

I think they are 37mm the same. I think it was only the older ones that had the 35mm. :)

    Wheel Bearings Spacer

Usually you need to switch to the bearings and spacer from the bike that you want to fit it to. Some of the 1100 - 1000 are a straight swap.

I am looking for some help with my '83 GS1100E fork setup using emulators

Not the case... The rebound is controlled by the original orifice in the piston. The Emulator only affects compression. That's why you need to set rebound first by selecting your oil weight. This is from the guide you posted :) Oil Viscosity 5wt - 30wt 15w typical by...

Any LEOs or DMV people here

I had a parking ticket on a car where the guy had go it the day after & the paperwork hadn't caught up (I hadn't sent the form in as I think you have 7-10 days, nowadays it's all online). Had to submit proof of sale, can't remember if it needed to be notarized or not & that was the last I heard...

    Wheel Builders

Sounds like a good time to pick up a new skill... ;) Joe Nardy did one a few years ago & it came out ok. I've done bicycle but never a motorcycle. I would think a site like ADVRIDER might get you a better selection of answers on this one. :)

I am looking for some help with my '83 GS1100E fork setup using emulators

If the emulators were installed properly your damper rod now has no effect on the compression damping as the Emulator controls that. The Oil weight will affect both compression (now managed by emulator) and the rebound (the small hole on the damper rod). 15W is likely too much. Even 12.5w might...

    First Bike - GS650G - Rusty Crusty

Yeah that one is beyond what I'll be willing to spend my time on. There are a lot better options out there for not a lot of $$. I think you'll spend more to get this running than starting with something better :)
