A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    It's about time! (Pun intended)

The western states have been talking about this after we started the conservation several years ago so after waiting and waiting we decided to just do it. Hopefully they'll follow our lead. Alberta, the province next to us is now considering no longer moving their clocks back and forth as well.

    Rip off or not?

Sounds like excessive time. How long was it since you left the bike and they phoned you? Sounds like you had a really long lunch.

Out for short drive and walk yesterday and bumped into this herd of Elk grazing in the outskirts of town. This is about 1/2 of the herd and counting the ones that weren't in the photo the herd would be about 200. 20260213_142029-Pano.jpg by soates50, on Flickr

    Gauge bulbs

Something to think about. BA9S is the correct base and stock are 3.4 watt. I found the instrument lights too bright for extended night driving so replaced all mine with 1.5W (IIRC) except for the oil, neutral and turn signal warning lamps.

    Hard to believe

Very sad and devastating. I don't know why snub nose school buses aren't mandatory in all school districts. Our district gradually replaced all long nose buses with snub nose buses something like 40 years ago. Those convex mirrors help but objects in them are tiny and you just can't see anyone...

Hell will freeze over tomorrow night!

Move to Canada. Climate is an odd thing these days. We're in the Rockies and it's supposed to be around O°f with 2 feet of snow in the yard but right now it's 40°f and no snow on the ground. Down right balmy here in the great not so white north.

    VM26 fuel T O-rings.

I bought the after market fuel tees and the orings where the right overall diameter but too fat, however I didn’t actually measure them, but the orings from your, actually Robert's kits, worked perfect.

    1980 GS1000S frame and parts

Yeah the numbers seem odd. It does appear to have proper foot peg mounting bracket and shift linkage as well proper foot peg mounting on right side as well. Is it close to you?

    1980 GS1000S frame and parts

Stumbled across this on the GSResources facebook group. Looks like a legit 1980 Wes Cooley. Missing lots of stuff but looks like a decent unobtainable stock exhaust plus the correct frame and rear sets. $700.00. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/19Keogiueq/

    Cheap, but good, derusting sauce

And grub screws in the petcock mounting holes to save having to use a tap to clean them out.

Making a good one out of two good ones.

Looks like it worked out very good Vince, good luck with the test ride. Always thought those old singles would make a great cafe style/retro racer ride. Is there enough good parts left to do that? With your tin banging talents I'm sure you could come up with something in short order.

Actually it could even be a "G". Inquiring minds would like to know. LOL.

    Data Center Building Boom Cycle???

Oh the irony ......they can't come up a better cooling technology for Ai than a 200 (or more) year old swamp cooler.

Bikes You've Always Wanted But Never Owned

I've owned both in the past. Both great bikes in their own way. Honda was a joy to ride, great motor, great handling, really comfortable, great sport tourer. Niggly issues with the chassis and suspension had me sell it after one season. Cam problem was warranty and was fixed so that wasn't the...
