A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Stator, The GSR travelling mascot.

My riding buddy Red Bird is over the moon that his buddy Stator is back. Stator's looking pretty good compared to the morning after a night on the town in John Day Oregon. 20150612_144859_Richtone(HDR)-Edit by soates50, on Flickr

    Facebook marketplace gems

Well fuddle duddle. Never heard of them until now. I did some digging looks like the 920 shaft drive might have been a US thing. I don't remember us getting them, only the XV920RH (chain drive) Europe got what they called a TR1 which similar to the 920RH but was 1000, 980 actually. I think the...

The XV920 was not a Virago. More of a standard model rather than a cruiser. Enclosed chain drive rather than shaft drive as well.

That's is funny and so is the fact they never made a Virago 920, only 750 and 1000.

    Krauser Saddlebags

Ahhh! Much better. Just a note to make sure you always lock the when using them. Some say their notorious for falling off. I never had that problem but I always made sure they were locked on. Possibly the seatbelt style attaching points can work themselves loose and locking prevents that. They...

    Krauser Saddlebags

I had those on a previous GS1000 and firstly the bags sat much more hortizontal and the bracket did in fact attach to the license plate holder. Short stubby aftermarket signals will fit where you're pointing. If you could drop the rear of the bags would that get you closer to attaching to to the...

    Paul Brodie's Shop

Thanks Ed, had no idea who he actually was. Brother in law brought a Brodie Mtn some 30 years ago and one of our Mtb trails is called Brodie. Used to hang out a lot at Westwood in the '70s but moved way in '79. I don't remember him from there. A guy I street rode with where a live now raced Pro...

    VOIP service help needed

Question them about how your home address is connected to 911. Land line automatically displays your address to 911 operators so in an emergency if you call 911 and hangup someone will show up. This has to be specially configured once you go to VOIP. VOIP also won't work during a power or...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Got out for my usual fall shake down ride before putting the bike to bed for the winter. Insurance expires soon and highs next week are just above freezing. Bummer that fall colours are about 2 weeks late this year. 20251008_152751.jpg by soates50, on Flickr

    Oil contamination

If there is a leak between the cylinder and coolant passages causing low compression you might see some fouling of the spark plugs but more than likely you would see combustion gases forcing their way into the coolant passages (combustion pressure is much higher than coolant pressure) which...

    seat step?

Mine had that done by the original owner. The standard GS1000 came with a flat seat like the "S" did in '79. After the foam was cut the cover was just wrapped under and fastened with the tabs under the seat and doesn't show any wrinkles. What they're using for vinyl on the aftermarket seat may...

Dual Sport riding in the Kootenays BC

Really cool trip Trevor. I was up Buchanan in June with the truck when we spent a few days in Kalso pre-tourist gong show. Beautiful spot. Glad you're up here enjoying my backyard (yeah, I got a pretty big yard) rather than you know where. Lol.

    Intermittent overflow

Did check that they're not binding on the float bowl? Give carbs a shake after installing the bowl and you should have a nice crisp rattle from the floats.

    What's it like....

150ish on my FZ750, 160ish on an FZR1000. Mostly on local backroads. Many years ago and didn't seem like that big of a deal. No traffic, no cops. It’s just what we did for entertainment. Now I look back and say to myself WTF were you thinking you idiot.
