A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    1980 GS1000G - Smoke at start-up - should I buy?

You'd think if they sat long enough that eventually the oil would seep past the rings and return to the crankcase... but that never seems to happen, or its some length of time Ive never encountered. lol Ive had several fine running engines over the years that smoke a little on start up...

    Pic of the week game

I vote for Sandy this time. I like the effect... it looks like some type of motorcycle "metamorphisis" from cruiser to sportbike.

    Vetter windjammer.

My dad had one on a Honda 400f. It was pretty nice being able to talk to the passenger and actually be able to hear each other (and it had compartments for holding stuff-which is nice). On my GS Im lucky if I can hear my passenger at all at speeds over 40mph. Aesthetically I don't care for...

    Pic of the week game

As much as I loved Trevor's (It looks like an Album cover), I have to vote for Sandy. I think it fit the spirit of this week's picture the best.

Anti-Dive brake hoses removed - is there a reason?

Also, if you consider that as the fork compresses against the air inside the unit, it becomes progressively harder to compress. So even with a straight rate spring, the forks are already "progressive" as they compress. Go with straight rate springs.

Im going with dorkburger for this one. I like the lightning pic and Wes Cooley, but theres something simple ad sincere about dorkburger's pic.

Front Tire VS Rear Tire Grip

They did the same thing for ATV's, I didn't know they did it for the bikes too. The Suzuki LTZ 400, KFX 400, and Arctic Cat DVX 400 were virtually the same machines with different body work and sometimes different shocks/springs.

    Craigslist "funnies"

I like the comment that he wanted to ride with his friends so he bought a new one... Kinda tells ya something right there.

    AGM battery quality vs price

I have had experience with the Motobatt and Bikemasters (none with Battery Mart). I have had great luck with the Motobatts on my Atvs where there is allot of vibration. I have had issues with the Bikemaster Platinum II batteries on my bikes and atvs. They developed cracks in the cases and...

    Anti dive by pass plates

I don't believe they are. When I swapped my 1150 forks on, my 1100 bypasses wouldn't fit if I remember correctly.

This makes me so thankful for my GS

That is greatness. It reminded me of some of the old abused bikes I had as a kid.
