DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Can I score any good upgrades from a 2003 Bandit 1200 donor bike (for my 81 GS1100E)?

I seriously doubt there would be ANY direct crossover fitments, but being a gearhead, I'm sure you can make some things work.

what did you wrench on today??

Added the following to the FZ1. 1. Speed healer 2. Gear indivmcator 3. Adjustable struts lowering the rear by about 1.25" 4. Taller windshield with added windshield extension. 5. Throttle rocker (jury is still out on this) All these have made it SO much more comfortable and enjoyable to ride.

what did you wrench on today??

Finally found out why, and fixed it, this FZ1 would periodically just die on me and was a bit hard starting. I knew it was losing spark but wasn't sure why until I finally searched for it in the FZ1OA forum and it's common with these gen 1 bikes. Apparently the ignition switch gets dirt and...

what did you wrench on today??

Finally installed a speed healer on the FZ1. It's nice to see 70 when I'm going 70 instead of seeing 80.

    1984 gs1100gk

When I had an '84 GK, I replaced the stock foam and cover with the foam and cover from an '82 G seat. Frankly I found the G seat to be superior in comfort to the GK seat. There just wasn't enough room, it seemed to me, to move around on the GK Seat without raising way up onto the rear seat area...

what did you wrench on today??

Put a much taller windshield on the FZ1, adding about 8 more inches of height over the stock one. Just got tired of the wind blast coming home from Bedford. National Cycle bubble type. So far I'm liking it.

    Picked another GS1000

Nice! Yeah the Vetter stuff really looks dated now but not much beats it for wind protection.

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Glad you guys had a chance to meet up and do some riding. Sounds like Scott had a nice trip. My FZ1 has been acting up a bit since Bedford and I discovered the exup valve was in need of servicing and proper cable adjustment. Running like a champ now.

    New GS1100G(K) owner from Colorado

I must say, the naked GK looks pretty cool like that. Well done. I assume you've gone through all the electrical connections? If not, there may be a culprit in one of those somewhere. Either clean all of them or replace them with a spade type.

    82 GS 1100l

The one that wears out is a gold color. The good one is a gray steel color.

    Down to one bike now.

Since the FZ1 is back in good nick, I decided to sell the GSX1100G AGAIN. Second time selling it. And I'll probably regret it again. Maybe not, I love the fizzy. The G sold in two days to a very excited guy from Lima, OH today.

    Hello. New 1981 GS1000g owner

I would advise you to source a stock airbox and ditch the pods. There's a reason the engineers did things the way they did. It's a great bike and will last a long time if taken care of.

    FZ1 Rod Bearings

And done. Took it for a 25 mile ride over lunch and it's running like a champ. Nothing leaking either AND I only ended up with 1 leftover unaccounted for screw, which is pretty good for me.
