A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Can a bad ignition coil cause rough running at certain throttle position?

This is what I learned... If you think it's the carbs, check your ignition... And I've had plenty of "carb" issues only to find out that one of my pickups on my Dyna ignition was dropping out. You can only clean the carbs so well before you need to look elsewhere. I also did the relay add...

    1983 gs550ed mono shock failure

If its riding on the rear tire the rebound has nothing to do with this. The spring has come loose or broken. Remember - the spring holds the bike up, the dampning is controlled by the fluid.

Replacement for 3 tab flasher relay on 1100G?

Last time I had to deal with a system like this ( self canceling ) I wired in a normal flasher and by-passed the control unit which is most likely the culprit. https://gsarchive.bwringer.com/mtsac/~cliff/storage/gs/GS1100G-L-K_Manual.pdf #9 and #10 in the lower right corner when turned...

    Won’t rev past 7000 rpm

Actually, over 15.5 volts is where stuff starts to get damaged. His voltage isn't causing an issue from his current readings. However, install a guage and watch as your riding. This can tell a whole different story. I use to rebuild 300 amp alternators (50DN on buses), dual voltage Leece...

1979 Suzuki GS850- Valve cover reinstall.

The service manual is available at BikeCliffs (forum superstar around here) someone knows the link. I'm at work and don't have it here. If you want to use a torque wrench - make sure it's INCH pounds and not foot pounds. Nessism is correct and some of these issues can't be repaired. Be nice...

    GS1000 Electronic Ignition/CarbQuestion

Several things to add: Make sure the individual pick-ups on the Dyna are gapped correctly - I set mine around .028/.030. If set wrong, this can affect timing on that coil/ 2 cylinders. Also, make sure the timing is checked at idle and at 3000rpm and your mechanical advancer is working. Running...

    Mikuni 36mm flat slides.

If you haven't touched the compression ratio, I would not change anything, yet... Just make sure all the internals are the same for the stock carbs - jets, needles, etc... 95 Katana 750 with same size carbs - sidewinder 4 into 1 w/straight pipe about 18". This is important because the length...

    '78 GS750 Gas Tank Leak

Actually, find someone that knowns how to repair tanks. The way it's done correctly it to get a hot iron and solder the hole closed... Also, if there's a hole, lining the tank won't last.

From the cylinders it's only option is the oil pan. Especially #2 After purchasing a Katana 750 parts bike for a project I removed the ignition cover to rotate the engine. Clutch will not engage

Also - make sure these aren't damaged and in place correctly. The pressure plate isn't damaged where the bearing contacts it.
