A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Trailers

5' X 8' with a 3500# axle. Buy used or build it. Johnson salvage has deals on complete axles. 1- 1/2" X 3/16" angle iron will work well for the frame 2" X 4" square tubing for the hitch framework. Make the sides 20" tall and use T&G plywood for the floor. http://www.trailerrvparts.com/...

6013 as I recall. Gauge, who knows. Get the rod warm first and don't stop. Burn through? back it up with a piece of metal and fill it in.

    Arc Welder Question(?)

The unit I'm using is an early '80's craftsman A.C. "Buzz" box. It is a nothing more than a relabeled Century. Better welds could be had with a better welder but it's all that I have. MIG is nice when you are welding a known quantity but there is nothing better than a unit that you can vary...

what did you wrench on today??

Working as intended. Had to move the wall outwards, make a new top board and reinforce everything to handle the additional weight. Still need to paint it light gray. Good enough for now.

Both Flux and Capacitors checked out just fine.

what did you wrench on today??

Reassembled the power converter for the camper. (SMPS) It had a crack that went through two traces for the opto-isolator feedback circuit and a copper pad on one of the legs of a dropping resistor was torn away from the board. That was the fun one to find.

what did you wrench on today??

Dropped a water tank so I could adjust the wiffle tree. One cable is stretched so I need to move a pulley and re-adjust that cable. Killed back doing it.

    1982 Yamaha Virago VX750?

They sold a boat load of them because it was a cheap V-twin... Can't fix ugly. Starter sounds like a box of rocks.

    1982 Yamaha Virago VX750?

I've seen two 'CDI' units go bad. Hitachi' carbs are a pain to get dialed in. Exhaust systems are prone to leakage (rust out) and they are ugly as sin.

    1980 gs850g brake troubles

Broke it or was it rotted out to begin with? Replace it with two pieces of straight pipe and heat resistant packing if you can't save the original packing.

The seat platform looks contrived as does the tail light. Other than that, no clue as to the manufacturer.

    De-stinking Penelope

They are right, VHT cast aluminum paint is too dark to use on the head and cylinder. It needs to be lighter.
