A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    I had a crash...a big one!

If the border opens in 2022-ish it could happen.... It now has a semi-nice black chrome stock exhaust which slowed it down considerably....

    I had a crash...a big one!

I am late to this party, having just noticed Trev with an Ace bandage on a Facebook post and I inquired as to what's up. Trev, best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery. The bike can be replaced, your body parts can't. I hope everything works out in the best way possible with no lasting...

    I had a crash...a big one!

I recently went through 37 days with a kidney stone. I got 12 Percocet. And something called Tramadol which is a non opiate pain killer with a warning list that is pretty scary. Potentially every organ in your body could be harmed in lieu of an addiction lawsuit. I had to wait 2 weeks for a CT...

What is the weight of a complete 1983 GS1100e engine vs Bandit 1200 engine?

My 1100e with Gen 1 Bandit front and rear, while I have never weighed it, is MUCH lighter than my stock GS just pushing it around.

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

I primarily use this bike for 1/4 mile drag racing. I changed the carbs strictly to go quicker. Racing is on hold for me this year, but the bike needed some exercise. The bike is already way faster than the limits of the rider, but I am considering cams over the winter. Slower than a modern...

Fresh Tar & Chip really grinds my gears.

THey just did the 20 mile road to my lady friends house a couple weeks ago. I have to say they did a great job. It was a cohesive mass after only a few hours, with almost no loose grave. Mucked up my wheelwells with tar, but I would sure rather have too much tar than gravel.

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Got the '80 1260 licensed this week. I have not ridden it much after the RS38 carbs and some other changes. The RS carbs require a LOT of effort to open the throttle, and need as much effort to close them even with a push-pull throttle. I need to get to the dragstrip to see what the difference...

I went back and looked at the thread of how you got it. Good score. Bandits never got the love they should have. The modern UJM.

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

My B12 was a great bike, but I never was comfortable on it. Always put pressure on my wrists. I tried 2 sets of risers and 3 different bars. I also prefer the 80-81 1100e over the 82-83 for riding position. Subtle difference, but noticeable. Congrats on the Bandit, Trev. Did it replace...

What...is this located on oil filter plate 81 GS750L

I suspect the unidentified part is a temperature controlled valve for the cooler. Never seen that particular one but some of the Lockhart coolers had a temp valve.

Keep it. I have them on all my bikes, and the former location of the Ignitor is a great place to install a SH775 Regulator.

Went for a ride and got left to the side

The gas cap is amazingly complicated. There are 2 metal balls in there so take a picture . Very common problem, I have been stranded as well....

I saw in Alberta they are tracking down US plates and issuing $1.2k tickets. With good reason. When the border opens are you going to come get that blue bike?

    Fork seal replacement

You might be able to use the fluid drain hole with a rubber tip blow gun?

    Dead cylinder

The pilot jet is the most common culprit. Under the Rubber plug next to the main jet. It has a VERY small hole in the end that can plug up in just a few weeks with Ethanol gas. You need a length of 30 gauge solid wire (.25mm) to clean it out. Hold it up to a light and make sure you can see...

    Fork seal replacement

One method is to drain the oil, then use an air nozzle applied to the air fitting at the top of the fork. Mine took about 5 minutes at 100PSI to pop out. There was a HUGE mess because I did not drain the oil, hence the warning.
