A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Dim taillight Q?

Good thing you discovered the low voltage issue. This is a well-known issue on these old bikes unfortunately. Which likely means you have issues with low voltage in many places. Connectors, switches ... which may cause all sorts of problems like melted connectors and wires, R/R blowing up, or...

HELP! No pressure on brake lever after removing banjo bolt

Just to make sure, there are 2 holes, one small and one tiny bleeder hole ? if the brake pads are near the discs, there is a large space behind the caliper pistons where air could be trapped. If you push the pistons into the calipers as far as they will go, that space is small. Saves time...

    Puzzled !

that is strange. Since you mention "as usual after sitting for a while", i get the feeling this means you already had carb issues for some time but managed to work around them this way. Could be you have 1 or more sticky float needles, that get stuck in the closed position. And you release that...

    79 850g stuck on highbeam

I have seen issues like that several times, the switch not always being the problem. (ref. below schematic) the "light control switch" switches 12V to the "headlight dimmer switch". From your description, that part (ON/OFF) is working. The "headlight dimmer switch" either puts 12V on yellow...

    Power to coils

If the coils get 9.5 volt, likely the ignition also gets 9.5 volt. I don't know about the Boyer Bransden but have seen issues with severals electronic ignitions when power drops below 10V.

    1982 GS750T - Engine... Out.

LOL and i did not notice that until i re-read, even with your remark. Am used to twin discs i guess, and need to pay more attention reading sometimes :o

    1982 GS750T - Engine... Out.

I do not know enough about that to answer that well, Rich. I read up on this topic years ago and found many conflicting opinions, even by experts. The orientation as on your bike is how Suzuki mounted the discs. This way debrees and water are slung out and away, not inward to be re-intruduced...

    1982 GS750T - Engine... Out.

I like to remove all parts from the bike, loosen all engine mount bolts, put frame/engine on its side and lift off the frame. Not much extra work in my opinion. Same thing for reinstalling the engine. Oh, should you take out the front wheel .... may wanna swap discs left/right :)

    Help needed identifying GS550 model

Suzuki used that front wheel hub in 1973 on the GT250, GT380, GT550 and GT750. (Using a single disk) And used it on several later models before the GS550 came out. My guess is that they found it easier/cheaper to stock just 1 hub (drilled on both sides).

    Help needed identifying GS550 model

If you check out this page, the first model 1977 came with a single front disc brake. In 1978 the GS550 went from wire wheels with single front disc, to wire wheels with dual front disc, to cast wheels with dual front disc. Even switched from drum brake to disc on the rear. Do you have any...

    OEM Fairing

Welcome Robert ! a picture would be helpful. I have seen several GS bikes with aftermarket fairings that were mounted on a bracket that covered the VIN plate on the headstock, some had the VIN plate removed from the headstock and riveted to the fairing.

    Surprise in the mail

dang, that is so cool ! Rare stuff, expensive too. Best part of it, the guy wanted you to have it. Must have been a nice talk, discussing a shared passion. Those are the best.

yes, agreed, that is how i read the chart too !

    Wacky vin!?

Check below, as you can see in 1980 the GS750 used 6-digit numbers. It is a 1979 GS750 N or EN, i would guess N.

    Wheelie Recovery Technique?

Whatever keeps you from falling is the first priority. Clutch can save you, but if you are past balance/tipping point that will not do it. Rear brake is the trick, gives you control. Maybe there's a wheelie school where you live, it's the fastest and safest way to learn ! Big fun, too.
