A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

I have an 8V V&H prepped head stamped VHR363 (pic below) and am curious about how much this head would flow if anyone might have some history with them?? Also, does the VHR number mean anything other than a serial number? Oh, in addition to the head work, the head has stainless 39mm IN &...

    Mechanical advance springs?

Any ignition experts out there?? I understand how they work, but I have questions about what the effect of modifying them would be. Is it possible to change the springs to allow the advance curve to come in faster or slower? Say for example you want the advance to come in at a higher RPM...

    Pistons & Sleeves?

Yes, correct. Correct, again. I won't be able to mock anything up until next weekend, but here's what I know right now... On the stock 1000 motor, when the piston is at BDC, the bottom ring sets 7mm above top of the case. The crankpin sets 3-4mm below the top of the case (same for the new...

    Pistons & Sleeves?

I understand.. Right now, eyeballing it, it looks like I'd be leaving very little on the block where the studs mount. When sliding the 1238 BB onto the case it appears there is very little that has to be removed, especially around the studs, however, they are 80mm OD sleeves & the ones in the...

    Pistons & Sleeves?

No racing, just a Big Arse street motor. Plan to knock it down to around 9.5. Aside from the inner studs, my concern is heat & I don't need to squeeze every pony out of it. I am actually building from a 1000 block & using JE ~78mm (measured) they are stamped 79mm underneath. The head I...

    Pistons & Sleeves?

Hmmm.. I am wondering if I can scallop the sleeves to allow clearance for the inner studs?? I'm afraid the studs will be to weak, unless I come up with a modification of some kind. That's what got me wondering why the sleeves are so long to begin with. My sleeves measure 83.18mm outside for...

    Pistons & Sleeves?

With no work today & crummy rain, it was a good day to let my wonder a bit... Looking at a couple blocks I have, I started wondering why the sleeves protrude so far thru the block?? I understand they have to be long enough to fully cover piston travel, but does it have to be as long as they...

    swapping out speedos

I just installed an older Kawasaki cluster on my 77GS... Pretty sure mine came off an 86 Ninja, but Kawi used this cluster on a bunch of bikes. Made a temporary bracket for now, but will be moving it in a bit tighter. Also had to solder up the wires (correctly) to an old pigtail. I removed...

    GPZ Carbs on a GS?

My carbs are from a GS and you are correct, not adjustable. I did need to raise them while tuning my KZ, so I just flipped the the little thing-a-jig (sorry the technical brain lock:)) on the needles over when I pulled them apart. That raised them enough for me. I can't comment from...
