If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    carbtune question/s

http://members.dslextreme.com/users/cbsaunders/gs/carb-balance.pdf #3 is the master carburetor. Adjust 2 to match 3, then do 4, then 1. (I think that's the order.}. When you change one, another previously adjusted one will move. You have to fiddle with them and keep a fan running on your...

Cant get my valves to measure right

Any chance you are sometimes getting oily gauges stuck together on the times your measurements are going from 8mm to 12mm. I've had 2 feelers stick together a few times.

Cleaned Carbs - Can't Set Idle

What did you soak them in? The older stuff used to be a lot more aggressive? Maybe your stuff is milder. Also, if it needs so little choke, is it possible some jetting (Pilot or air) is wrong resulting in a rich condition? Is there any way you could assemble the choke rail that would make it...

O-rings for carb bowl drain screw.

. Thanks Robert, I think I'm good. I have no leaks now and put some from Napa on. I'm selling the bike and just wanted to get it ready. There have been no signs of leaks. The bike is running so good I hate to sell it.

O-rings for carb bowl drain screw.

Okay, I just read your reply so I guess I need to tighten fully. I will lubricate before tightening.

O-rings for carb bowl drain screw.

1.5 mm by 5mm. So I guess the hole is 5 mm. Looks like what I got from Napa. Caliper might be slightly larger but acceptable.

O-rings for carb bowl drain screw.

Okay, thanks. Got some gas resistant ones from Napa and the counterman opined I had tightened them too much. I will click your link to the carb rebuild. I don't remember seeing it in the CV tutorial at BikeCliff's but I did gloss over familiar parts of it. EDIT. Wow, great tutorial you did.

O-rings for carb bowl drain screw.

So I finished my carb cleaning for the 1100GL. Did everything but the fuel inlet needle valve seat which I couldn't budge and feared damaging. The bike runs great but I'm getting drips from the bowl drain screws. At first I thought it might be leaking higher and running down but I'm pretty...

82 gs 1100 gk with 4 -1 Mac pipe and factory air box, try find proper jets or setting

If you've been at bikecliff's you've probably seen the link to the CV carb cleaning tutorial. Consensus is that it's not really a carb cleaning unless you do the thorough procedure. The exhaust alone might not require rejetting if the air intake is stock and you don't have intake air leaks.

    Turn signal flasher

Thanks for all the help. The short version, now, is the left turn signal started working with the connectors mated as shown in the 1100gl wiring diagram. I don't know what the difference was between this time and the score of other times I had them mated like that. I do know that when I had...

    Turn signal flasher

Thanks, yes both light up on the dimmer filament but only the right will light up (and blink) on the brighter filament. It's like there is something wrong in the wiring for the left, maybe voltage loss from corrosion. The plastic gang-connectors are so brittle, I can't get them unplugged.

Okay thanks, will go that route.

    Turn signal flasher

I'm an electrical dunce. I'm pretty sure my old OEM flasher is the thermal style. I'm also pretty sure my bulb in the left socket is good. I've tried 2 new ones and they both light up on the dimmer filament. Visually, the flasher filament looks okay. I will swap the bulb that flashes in the...

    Turn signal flasher

If a flasher is bad. will it not flash at all. Mine flashes fine for the right turn signal. For the left, when it is applied, there is a single blink sound as the rear turn signal lights up solid. The signal filament in the front left signal bulb never lights up. There is power to the...

    Front Turn Signal Ground

I misspoke. I do indeed have the left turn plugged into the black socket and running lights into the gray double socket. I've changed things so much I'm confusing myself.

    Front Turn Signal Ground

Got ground sorted. On the other wires, turns out red is signal and black is running lights. Running lights work, right turn signal works and left turn signal doesn't want to blink. To be honest, I was having that same problem when the fairing was in place and it would usually resolve after 10...

    Front Turn Signal Ground

Thank you. Yes, The aftermarkets do have a red and a black wire and there was one 1157, 2 filament bulb in one light. I think it came with it but can't remember for sure. I am assuming the unit has running lights capabilities and I will do the test you advise.

    Front Turn Signal Ground

Thanks, I now see a b/w wire with female bullet in the headlight. I guess I could combine the 2 grounds into 1 male bullet and plug in there. One thing puzzles me. I bought these aftermarkets in about 2010 to fit this bike. They have two wires, red and black. I was thinking one wire was for...

    Front Turn Signal Ground

Thanks Robert. When I put the Vetter on, in the first weeks I got the bike, I was able to just leave the original headlight bucket in place and it fit kind of behind and a little under the Vetter headlight so I have that original configuration. The previous owner had no front signals but...

    Front Turn Signal Ground

I've had a Vetter fairing on my 1983 1100GL from the start (about 10 yrs.) I took it off today and mounted a couple of aftermarket turn signals. I see from the wiring diagram, which I usually don't totally understand, there should be 2 wires and a black/white wire with a lug for ground. I...
