    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

When do you expect ev bikes to become practical road bikes.

Agree, it's coming. I just think it'll be pretty slow in the more remote places I like to ride. :) Really, there's 3 parts to it. Range of the battery, charging locations, and recharge time. I can live with less range, but only if there's a charge station were I need it and the rechange time...

When do you expect ev bikes to become practical road bikes.

"Fast" and 110v household outlets are mutually exclusive. Less than 20 amps available from one. So 2k kilowatt-hours per hour, at best. Now, for guy who does only day trips of less than 130 miles or so (and that's a LOT of riders) when range gets to be greater than that he's fine, an overnight...

When do you expect ev bikes to become practical road bikes.

Jumping in without reading the whole thread (I hate it when people do that!! :)), but for me the biggest current hurdle is charging infrastructure. The bikes themselves still aren't quite there, rangewise, but a doubling of battery energy density would be enough, IF there are convenient places...

How do YOU jump start an old GS?

Battery Tender or similar will have the battery up to snuff in at most a day or so. Wal-mart or an auto parts store will have something if a bike shop isn't nearby.

    000,003 mile 79 1000S on BaT

BaT doesn't work that way, the reserve isn't known, and only after bidding is closed do you know if reserve was met or not. Iconic does it differently, it lets you know if reserve has or hasn't been met. I was really surprised that it ended up RNM. Would have thought anything over $25k would...

    Morning coffee race.

Listed at 5'10, but I think that's generous. Stood right next to him at a bar in Monterey during the WSB weekend in '98, I'd guess more like 5'8"-5'9". Still above average for a GP rider. That was an amazing race, remember watching it back then, probably on Speed Vision? Somewhere buried in a...

    Rebuild kit unobtanium???

Well, my wife usually calls me the problem, not the dilemma, but whatever. :) Ed, that's my plan, when I get everything back from Chuck and have the physical parts in hand I'll look for stuff that might work. No point in Chuck spending too much time on it when we have a good workaround available.
