DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Spoiler Alert: MotoGP (or any other race) thread for immediate disscussion of races.

I certainly wouldn't bet against Marquez, he'll be the odds on favorite. At least one and maybe two Ducatis for the other slots. Martin and Bagnaia would be my guess. Wouldn't be surprised to see either Rins or Mir up there either.

NGK B8ES spark plug replacements: Autolite or Champion?

For as long as I've owned motorcycles (40+ years) the accepted wisdom has been to use the NGKs and not any substitute.

    Fork issues

Have you very carefully examined the tube for tiny dings or nicks? Using a very bright light, not looking at them in a dimly light corner of the garage. :) Very common for tubes to have dings in them, they usually have sharp edges that cut up the sealing surface of the fork seals. Take some...

Anyone else excited about the start of MotoGP season?

That sums it up pretty well. I've been watching GP racing since 1978, and he's the best I've ever seen. Probably said this before here, but I was at COTA in 2013 when he won his first MotoGP race. Was here all three days and saw all of practice and qualifying. Left there just stunned, convinced...

Anyone else excited about the start of MotoGP season?

Actually, he has been penalized a couple of times, but not nearly often enough to suit some people.

    the best 650 engine options

Most likely possible, if you know how to degree cams. The timing marks will be off so you'll need to figure out how to install them so that the cam timing is correct. Do you know if the intake cam has more lift and/or duration?

    Kawasaki GTR1000 (1993) manual needed

Yeah, kind of the last hurrah for the UJM. I've seen just a couple, and agree, nice all-around bike.

A new addition to the bicycling stable

Thanks guys. I kinda assumed you would be able to, but some of my assumptions haven't turned out so well. :) I would be wanting to go the other way with gearing. My knees have become very effective torque-limiting devices.

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Finally got a window of decent weather to take the new bike out for a nice ride. Managed to hit some decent twisty roads, but they still had salt and sand on them from recent snow storms, so the pace was pretty mellow. Photo taken in VA on US211, couple miles west of Sperryville.

Looks like fun! Gotta dumb question: Can you change gearing on those?

    JIS Screwdrivers recommendation?

?? JIS screws are crosshead, JIS and slot are inherently different animals. I get my JIS stuff from McMaster-Carr. https://www.mcmaster.com/screwdrivers/for-drive-style~jis-jcis/ And I'll disagree with Nessism on grinding the tip of Phillips. That does help, but it's still not as good as a...

    Shortening shock length

Slower steering, a tendency to push the front end when cornering hard, and less ground clearance will be the main side effects. If this is a cafe racer conversion mainly focused on looks then the tradeoffs may be ok for you. If you looking at actually riding it halfway hard, then it's a bad...
