A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Airplane fuel

No. The only fuels that will make more power are special oxygenated ones, and you need to rejet to see any gains. The advantage higher octane fuels have is that they allow you to run a higher compression ratio and/or more ignition advance. Just dumping high octane fuel into an existing engine...

    Airplane fuel

Won't hurt, won't help. AVGAS has no more energy per gallon than regular gas. Save your money.

GS650GT Front forks sag after rebuild

Cut the spacer so that the total stack length is a little shorter than stock. If you make it the same length you’ll have too much preload with the better springs. Ideally you’ll want the springs compressed about 20mm with the fork cap screwed in.

    It's a lawnmower, but I thought I'd ask here

Enjoy your "Goldilocks" lawnmower and call it a day? Torch, gasoline close by, what could possibly go wrong?? :)

GS650GT Front forks sag after rebuild

It's a lot too much. 35mm of total sag is about right on most street bike. The stock springs were too soft when new, and haven't gotten better with age. Adding preload does make the sag a bit less, but the spring rate is still exactly the same. New springs from a good aftermarket company are...

Nessism - To Measure Is to Know

LOL, no, just a lot of years in software, dealing with some members of management that kept trying new methods of measuring programmers productivity. They measured the crap out of stuff, and none of it mattered :)

Nessism - To Measure Is to Know

The flip side to that saying is this: Not everything that can be measured matters, and not everything that matters can be measured. With the corollary: Bad metrics drive bad behavior. Just to keep things in perspective. :)

New guy getting wrecked so far! .. 80 850g

That's because they're not Phillips, they're JIS (Japanese Industrial standard) This is true of every "Phillips" screw on Japanese bikes A proper JIS screwdriver will fit the screw heads much better (the difference is amazing) and save you a lot of grief...

    Q's on 1994 Sportster...

LOL, if a single SV caliper, designed to be used as a pair on a bike that's 100lbs lighter is an improvement, that's reeeaaally saying something about the stock brakes. :)

    Q's on 1994 Sportster...

Don't sweat the carb, very simple. I recently helped a neighbor get his going, hadn't ever turned a wrench on a Harley before. Be a lot easier to sell that than the sidecar.

1982 GS750E Strange Fork Spring Lengths

I don't have any idea what should be in there, or where what you do have came from. The good news is, it doesn't matter. :) When you get the Sonic Springs in follow these directions: http://sonicsprings.com/catalog/damper_rod_forks_tech_article.php the Sonic springs will be shorter, probably...
