A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    MotoGP watch party

For anyone in the central Oklahoma area, MotoGP watch party at my house April 18. Portuguese GP, it's a great racetrack. We'll have the Marquez comeback, Olivera trying to defend his race win there last year on the KTM, and some answers to whether or not the the Ducs and Yamahas are really that...

    '78 GS750 fork oil level/air gap

If there's a spacer set the air gap to 120mm. If it's all spring, set it to 140mm. That's measured with the spring and spacer (if any) removed and forks fully compressed.

Finding a custom tooth count 520 sprocket

Just email SS with the info you have, if there's another model that takes the same sprocket they should know that.

Finding a custom tooth count 520 sprocket

Hmm, unfortunate that Sprocket Specialists isn't what they used to be, I always had good luck with them. Probably still worth an email inquiry to them.

    78 GS1000 suspension upgrades

Honestly, this makes no sense to me. Those pieces are barely any better than what you have. Far better in my opinion to upgrade the existing components. Springs and emulators in the forks, stainless steel lines and good pads for brakes, good shocks in back. Just swapping the 1100E parts in...

Is the 1980 16 valve GS1100L Hard to Find?

A specific, one year model of a 40 year old bike is going to be hard to find, no avoiding that. It'll just be a matter of luck running across one. Shaft adds about 40-50lbs, and also costs HP, those two right angle turns in the driveline come with a price. If you rode an '80 16V chain drive...

What is the technical name for the triple tree part?

Don't understand the question, what "point" are you referring to? The "triple trees" are more properly called triple clamps, but in parts diagrams you'll see various terms..

Where to get oversize pistons for GS1000??

It?s a 40 year old bike, I?m not too surprised parts aren?t on every street corner. :)

While it's hard not to vote for a good-looking guy like Trevor there's no way I can avoid voting for the chile pic. :)

Yep, the wife took a job at the Pentagon, and I'll do my current job, just full-time tele-work from there. Which college is he in? I think you mentioned it but I forget now.

    Pic of the week game

Now that's downright mean... :) One of the good things about moving to the DC area is that I should be able to make the family's Friday afternoon lunch there once a month or so.

    85 zx600 ninja

A think the GPZ 550s are a lot more "collectible" than the early Ninja 600s are. Not sure this one would be worth bothering with.

Chuck, thanks for that. If the carb cleaning doesn't cut it I'll have my buddy take it to him.

    non-running 1999 Harley Sportster 1200

21 year old. :) I make the same mistake all the time. The '90s just don't seem that long ago. Yeah, that's what I'm thinking, a good carb clean ought to do it. If not, I'll have him take it to a shop, too much "life" stuff going on now to invest a lot of time.
