I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    Rockauto is not BS!

I got nice original style seat covers a few years back for a '54 Willys Wagon. Couldn't believe it, about half the price of Willys vendors, and probably as good or better. Their site is a bit of an eyesore but it works for me.

Gonna check out a Laverda 3C (1L triple) tomorrow. Excited.

Anything you see on the Jota is gonna be relevant up to a point, and there's much more media on the Jota. Not much on the 3C. Jota was orange (cool!), hotted up 3C. The 3C is sorta plain Jane but it's as close as I can get and unique in its way. Sorta like DucatI, the SS got all the attention...

Gonna check out a Laverda 3C (1L triple) tomorrow. Excited.

They have a 180 crank, somewhat unique for a triple. Two outers rise and fall together. Maybe cost reason. They went to a 120-degree crank later, but no counterbalancer. They rubber-mounted the engine. The 120-degree engine had a rocking couple, the racers stuck with the 180 crank. Heck, I ride...

It showed no signs of 'messed with' Original everywhere. Guy had so many bikes, a round case 750 Ducati, several Benellis, some road racers. Mostly Italian. He worked for American Honda so Benelli Sei and Quatros will seem familiar. He got the bike from a relative who was a JPL engineer who had...

Well, I bought it. I need to go up with my trailer tomorrow to pick it up. It's very nice, will come out stunning after I give it the treatment. I believe it can be one of the best around. Laverda triples have been near the top of my list for decades. Finally, I get one.

There is a vendor in Nakusp Canada, Columbia Car&Cycle and they are well stocked and reasonably priced, according to the Laverda forum.

They were sold here. Originally under the 'American Eagle' brand then Laverda branding. Never in big numbers. They performed on par with big Japanese 4's of the day, but were double the price.

    It's a 1975. Only 12K miles

Well, one within my price range came up, very clean but has been sitting. If I get it, I'll sell one of my '83 GS1100Es. More for room than money, but the money will help as it will need the usual going through. I've always loved these. It's not a Jota but that's fine, I can't afford one of...

Perhaps the most convoluted oil change I've ever done (KTM)

My '14 Grand Cherokee has been a very reliable vehicle (believe it or not), but I'm a bit miffed at having to change the oil pressure sender. It reads 100 and showed up on OBDII as a sender fault, not the pump. Rather than mounting on the side of the engine as has been done for ages, they put it...

Perhaps the most convoluted oil change I've ever done (KTM)

True for some of their engines, but not this one. The 'RFS' singles from '00 to '07 are said to be KTM's most robust. They evolved from Husqvarna and then Husaberg. Later, KTM acquired Husaberg for their 4-stroke tech. They have an enthusiastic following. Many put in a manual cam-chain...

Perhaps the most convoluted oil change I've ever done (KTM)

2003 KTM 450 EXC - RFS (racing 4 stroke), they are tough engines, but given their intended use, the factory calls for oil change every 15 hours of use. 1.2L of synthetic 10W-50. That said, for a bike that gets fairly sedate use on streets and trails, and is never pushed to extremes, the...

Dynojet numbers perhaps? They are way different.

    Cheap, but good, derusting sauce

I watched some comparison videos using Deox-C vs Evaporust after I saw it work on an ATC90 frame.. It's citric acid - based and performs very well. But it's very expensive and not common in the USA. Having this recipe interests me. Washing soda is cheap (dollar store). I hope I don't have to do...

What's old is new again? No, still old haha.

Doing vehicle swap due to a lame one needing repairs, so my son's riding the GS to college and I'm driving his '19 Corolla XSE 6 speed (not bad, not bad at all...). He sent me a pic, brought back memories. I was commuting to college in the late 80s, almost 40 years ago, on a GS1100E. One of...

    Starter clutch woes

    Prepare for a scolding.
  18. oldGSfan

what did you wrench on today??

I worked on 3 bikes today, firstly the '83 GS1100E had two issues with the flashers - the turn signal control unit was not supplying ground, and the original 3-pin flashers I had were both toast. Two problems can make troubleshooting tricky, but most of my job in avionics has been fairly complex...

Something hinky with GS1100E starter or starter clutch?

I think that's a good thing to focus on, thanks. I have also been wondering about it. I can't see any twist, and it seems it would show up tho.
