DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Riding & the effect on the mind.

Can be a downside with extra CO2 intake (full face). Maybe that adds to the euphoria tho - upside!

    seat step?

Some vinyl is quite stretchy; I have a seat on my Norton that way, but it's quite thin. I don't think the original GS vinyl is stretchy enough; I think the type of vinyl that I got for the Norton may be a newer development. Here's an extreme stepped seat on a GS. Couldn't help myself.

    New Vietnamese seat with pictures

I was impressed with mine that I got for my '73, the pan was perfect, fit right on with original hardware. It was firm but not uncomfortably so. For $200 I was pleased with it. Yamiya stuff is the best but $$$.

    New Vietnamese seat with pictures

I got a seat for my '73 CB750 from Vietnam, very firm, but I don't mind that. The pan was perfect, as was the vinyl and foam. For my GSs, I have gone with Pit Replica, and they are solid. How can $60 get you a better seat cover than stock? Well, prices will go up soon, I'm sure. This is a...

Stock paint has crooked emblem, clear coating over it, what to do?

Well, after my Norton tangent, I had to wait for good weather and also correct the base coat here and there, and fix one tank dent (2nd tank) that I missed. I'm still not 100% there on the 2nd, but I got the first set clear-coated with the decals on, plus one extra front fender. The other stuff...

    '82 550 Katana for $800 in SoCal

Didn't realize the tank held 6 gallons but yeah, the styling of this one always looked a bit porky. Still for a few C notes (offer 5?) it's sorta cool. Looks sorta filthy tho. https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/mcy/d/orange-suzuki-katana/7882817760.html

Is there such a thing as a cheap Beemer?

Funny, I talked to a guy yesterday who came to my place to buy a coffee table. Saw my Norton and GS's and chatted about bikes and stuff. He was about my age and knew friends from the 80s in Costa Mesa, CA. He mentioned Reg Pridmore, said his friend's dad owned a shop in Santa Barbara was...

    Craigslist derelict, 1K & as usual 'no title' - 78 GS1000E

Yes,. The process of researching back fees in CA can be done online for free with the VIN. I would never take someone's word for it. Calling the DMV is the next option; they will do a call-back, which is a huge improvement over the old days of being on hold, listening to smooth jazz for 2...

    1985 Kawasaki GPz750 needs refresh

Something about that Kawi 750 motor does it for me. Years ago, I found a pristine '82 GPz 750 for a work colleague and thought Hmm, what am I doing finding, fixing, and giving this gem to him? I rode liter bikes mainly due to my oafish dimensions, but that 750 charmed the hell out of me. I think...

    Craigslist derelict, 1K & as usual 'no title' - 78 GS1000E

It doesn't look bad, if he sends me some pics, I may be tempted. It's an all-day haul out to the high desert and back, then the paperwork - I'd check on the DMV site with the VIN first to verify back fees.

Electrical gremlins affecting indicator lights and starter circuit

First thing I'd do is to isolate it, go directly to the starter solenoid and jumper it when it's giving probs. I think there's a 'brain' but like mine, I'm not sure how it works.

    Craigslist derelict, 1K & as usual 'no title' - 78 GS1000E

They won't lift a finger, that's my experience. I did ask for pics of the other stuff but that may be too much effort too.

    Craigslist derelict, 1K & as usual 'no title' - 78 GS1000E

Only needs to be 'ensambled'. Says it has tank, fender, nice seat but doesn't provide pics (sheesh). Somewhere there is a huge pile of old titles that mysteriously vanished into thin air over the years. I mean that's the only explanation, right...

Interesting bikes at the Handbuilt Show in San Pedro

I find these Japanese bikes garish but whimsical. Looks like a Paul Dunstall Fairing tacked on at an obscene angle? Check. 6-foot backrest? Check. 1970s Schwinn bicycle seat red sparkle vinyl? Oooh, Mr Sparkle (Simpsons reference) Check. Sport bike meets chopper? Check. It's like a Ren and...

Interesting bikes at the Handbuilt Show in San Pedro

Day-glo Mad Max on acid. I asked about the horns at the back; they were for gangs of riders to annoy the government workers who wanted to ban them. They would swarm the houses of the bureaucrats at 3AM and let it rip.

Interesting bikes at the Handbuilt Show in San Pedro

Went to the show in San Pedro today with my son. It was hipster central. These Japanese bikes were hilarious, the red one's a 79 GS750.
