A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

do the young ones like older sport bikes

I've been surprised with how many people notice my bike as not being some old piece. I get more nods from the HD guys than I do the crotch rocket crowd. A number of them finally give in and admit they used to have a UJM. That has got to painful for them, but at least I know they appreciate...

    Tell me about smoothbores please

Yes, I was too lazy to sit there with a Dremel polishing them like I intended, so I thought painting the body black might flow with the paint scheme on the motor. You can't tell real well from the pic, but the engine is silver everywhere except the fins, so I thought matching the carbs up would...

    charging system up grade

GOD!!! Your luck is better than mine! I even managed to eat up a Dunnaege R/R. I think my stator cooked it before I could figure out it was bad too... Ended up with a freebie from a local guy who used to work on Gold Wings... Perfect now!

    Tell me about smoothbores please

I had seen them over $400 on ebay. I'll tell you what I have in mine though. From a local guy, I paid $100 knowing they were going to need plenty of work. After replacing EVERYTHING except the slides, I had another $240 payment to Z1. I replaced everything, though. gaskets, brass floats...

    Yosh Race Pistons: 2V 1000?

Well, maybe he knew, maybe he didn't, but I suspect he never measured the pins & thought they were Yosh style pistons... He had two sets listed, and the other I was sure was a GS piston because I had one to compare. If he was trying to make any money on them and actually knew they were for a...

    Tell me about smoothbores please

Keep hold of them for a while... I have a nice set of 29's I just rebuilt and run great on my bike... I might want to trade if my 29's can't feed the motor I am building :)

    Yosh Race Pistons: 2V 1000?

If I put them back on ebay, I am going to wait until my feedback is old enough that no one can see what I paid for them. Plus, with a little cleanup, they look a heck of a lot better than when I bought them. :) As far as rings go, I spoke to Redline Cycle in Skokie, IL today. They build...

    Yosh Race Pistons: 2V 1000?

these are KZ pistons these are KZ pistons Allright guys, I'm willing to try being a guinea pig, so we find some things out, so feel free to chime in here. It looks like I ended up with Kawi 1105 pistons & an 17mm wrist pin... Bad news... I'll either have to sell them, or just have some fun...

Running 17mm wrist pins on GS

Is that what I bought?? Can they work, or is it too much work?

    Pods in the rain

I forget if I got from the guys on BonnevilleAmerica.com or TriumphRat. I used to be on them both a good bit, mostly BA, but since I ride that bike & fix a zuki, I am on here a lot more. You got a Trumpy??

    Rear Shock Rebuild

Works Shocks offers a "heart transplant" for many stock shocks. You'd need to call them @ (818) 701-1010. Probably not cheap, but it is basically all modern stuff in your OEM shock.

Running 17mm wrist pins on GS

This thread is sort of related to my Yosh piston thread, but topic is different, so it seems best to keep things organized and start another. http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/showthread.php?t=134498 After measuring, these pistons have a 17mm wrist pin. I suppose I have three options...

How long of a warranty do they offer, anyway? 3 Months?

    Pods in the rain

Nes, Good data there. Most surprising thing about it is that you are only talking about a minimal airflow advantage/disadvantage regardless of the filter you are using. Since there's so much talk about pods vs airbox it might just be that the "real" difference is that pods allow a greater...

    Pods in the rain

I've had K&N's on my Triumph twin for over three years, ridden in terrible rainy conditions & never had a problem. If you follow the directions, you are supposed to wash the K&N filters from the "clean" (from inside on pods) after spraying with their air filter cleaner. Their filter cleaner...

    Anti-dive block off plate?

I'm not sure either. I've never dis-assembled and anti-dive unit to figure out how it exactly worked. When I had mine apart, I soaked them Seafoam & sprayed cleaner thru them to get all the gunk out. When I did that, I remember spraying in one hole and fluid came out the other; therefore my...

    Anti-dive block off plate?

Nessism, What diameter groove did you use? Assuming there is a difference between the grooved and the non-grooved plates, I would think using grooves smaller than what you have done would offer a compression rate somewhere between what you describe. If so, we'd basically have an adjustable...

    Yosh Race Pistons: 2V 1000?

Allright. I received my 73mm Moriwaki pistons yesterday and cleaned them up a bit, but I have a couple questions below. Overall, all four pistons look real good. The one pictured is actually the worst of the four. They are all in very nice shape, with the exception of a few small dings on the...

    Yosh Race Pistons: 2V 1000?

got mine today in the mail: Looks strikingly similar to those & appear to be in great shape. I'll post better pics when I get a chance.
