A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Can't lower my idle - 1980 GSX400

Did you adjust the idle screw (assuming that model has one?) Is it possible that when you put everything back together after cleaning the carbs you got something wrong so that there is no adjustment that will shut the butterflies enough to drop the idle.

    110/90 19 front on 1100G?

Thanks. I guess it's not really too much trouble to just mentally subtract about 10% (more like about 7%). I checked the speedo with a GPS an found about a 7% error but maybe the GPS wasn't perfectly accurate. It was an old hand-held unit I had zip-tied to the bars (middle area by the...

    110/90 19 front on 1100G?

Would it be pushing it to go from a 100/90 19 to a 110/90 19 on my 1100G? I guess my reason is not very pressing. I was thinking of correcting my speedo by getting a slightly taller tire and can't find anything without also increasing the width by about .4 of an inch.

    Strange Valve Shim Adjustment

I would describe your jetting, air intake, exhaust etc and let some of the gurus here suggest a likely jetting and needle shimming (or not shimming) so you don't have to buy a bunch of different main jets to experiment with. I admit I'm kind of cheap. Also, most of the gurus here may work more...

    Oops!

Ooops again. What about the resistance of stator leg to engine ground. Could that possibly be helped on all 3 legs by repairing that one wire?

    Oops!

I smashed a stator wire right past the rubber grommet/plug under the stator cover. Can this repaired by a splice? If all seals like it should, I guess it will be right outside the "oily" area. Would oil on a bare wire be a certain short? Also, would running the bike like this for a while do...

    Can you test SH775?

Thanks, I don't have one (clamp meter) but I think I'm understanding there is no simple test of a non-installed series stator like there is for the shunt-types.

    Can you test SH775?

The stator papers specify that the test for the R/R works on shunt type R/R's. Is there a test for the series type R/R's?

    R/R Fusebox Proximity

The Shindengen is considerably more burley than the original R/R. It takes up a lot more space. Is it so close to the fusebox that heat from the R/R could damage the fusebox?
