A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

GS850G Won't Start, Electrical Issue, No Spark

A used TCI is running $100+ on eBay. Perhaps I'll upgrade to the Dyna if I have to replace it.

GS850G Won't Start, Electrical Issue, No Spark

This is exactly what I needed! I was testing it with the bike off, and getting no spark. Also, I did check the signal generator according to the service manual and it looks good. I'll run the TCI test again (properly) and report back.

GS850G Won't Start, Electrical Issue, No Spark

Buffalo Bill, do you have any experience testing TCI's? I could use some help on this, man. The manual is not doing it for me on this one, I need gurus.

GS850G Won't Start, Electrical Issue, No Spark

rphillips, I appreciate the response, but need some clarification. What do resistored/non-resistored spark plugs have to do with my problem? I'm not asking for a performance increase; I am getting zero spark after a serious overcharging situation. As I stated in the original post, I am not...

    Digital Gauges Guinea Pig.

I did one on my '83 850G that was all digital, and it took some doing to get the tach and speedo dialed in. I was wishing I had the cable option, but now that it's installed and working, it's not bad at all.

GS850G Won't Start, Electrical Issue, No Spark

Standard. If anyone knows how to test the TCI/Igniter, I'd appreciate some guidance. The service manual is not super clear to me on that one. It requires a Suzuki "pocket tester" which I don't have. And the manual from June 1983 that I have must be for the older bikes because it talks about...

GS850G Won't Start, Electrical Issue, No Spark

My bike is a custom-wired cafe racer (no haters, please). I had it running top notch and was really enjoying my time on the bike, when tragedy struck. I think my R/R failed and I had an overcharging issue. My AGM battery (under the rear cowl/fairing) blew it's seals and leaked out fluid, which...

Help Me Identify My Calipers and Pads?

Thanks, Dave, that's what I have! I'll get some o-rings sourced and replaced!

Help Me Identify My Calipers and Pads?

Salty, you are correct. I hear a little air squeezing out from the top bolts on the forks. I assume I need to seal them up somehow?

Help Me Identify My Calipers and Pads?

I rebuilt all the calipers (front and back) already! They were nasty.

Help Me Identify My Calipers and Pads?

It seems like maybe someone swapped the front end. Here’s a photo with the calipers and also the weird forks without an air charge fitting. I’ve been confused for months on that.

Help Me Identify My Calipers and Pads?

It would only let me post one image, probably because I'm a newbie. Here's the brake pads (bottom ones fit):

Help Me Identify My Calipers and Pads?

I've got a 1983 GS850G that seems to have some "other year" parts on it. The brake calipers are round where the piston is, unlike the service manuals all show. I ordered new pads and they definitely do not fit. I think they night be from a GS1100? Here's a photo for any sleuths out there...

New Member, New to the GS World, Custom Build

It's true. It was a pass-around bike for guys whose bikes were in the shop. Nobody cared about it. I picked it up in early January and hope to have it roadworthy in July. I have to learn how to do upholstery and make a custom seat. Not some lazy flat pad, but something that actually feels...

New Member, New to the GS World, Custom Build

Hello everyone, I'd like to introduce myself and my bike. My name is Zak and I like to build stuff, especially custom building and doing things a little differently. I'm new to the Suzuki world, and somehow I've fallen in love. I was gifted a 1983 850G that had been sitting in a barn for five...

    Gear Indicator Wires - 82 Suzuki GS650GZ

tom203 are you saying the lights all have +12v and the indicator wires feed the ground to the lights? Do you know if an '83 GS850G works the same way?

    1983 GS850G Project

Hey all, I'm super excited to join the GS community! This is my first bike, but not my first project. I build/create/restore all kinds of things, mechanical and otherwise. I spent 12 years working for a sculptor (foundry, apprentice, etc.) and have a lot of fabrication and hands on experience...
