I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    Weird Tachometer Issue

Confirmed. I pulled it off and the slotted end stayed on the engine! Ordered a new one. Thanks for the help!

    Weird Tachometer Issue

Oh, so you mean it should not move up towards the tach, but should be inserted and removed from the bottom (engine side)? If that's the case, then yes. Apparently its broke!

    Weird Tachometer Issue

Sorry, I should have posted the bike I'm working on. It's an 82 GS1100 GK. Should I be able to pull the rod all the way out of the cable, or not? If I remember correctly, my speedo cable came all the way out. I greased it and put it back in. No issues.

    Weird Tachometer Issue

This morning I went for a ride and I noticed my tach wasn't working at all. The threaded ferrule on the tach side sometimes comes loose and the cable drops out. When I got where I was going, I checked it and it was tight. I removed the cable from the tach and noticed it wasn't spinning. I...

    1981 GS850glx (BS32SS) Air screw/tuning help needed!

The timing of this post is uncanny. I said my delkevik exhaust pops allot. I don't remember if it's always been like that or for how long exactly. But this morning, I noticed a rattle when I started it up. I didn't think much of it as the bike makes occasional weird sounds. By the time I...

    1981 GS850glx (BS32SS) Air screw/tuning help needed!

When the carbs are on the bike, clockwise is less fuel, counterclockwise is more fuel. Black around with white in the center on the plugs is ok. Depends on how white. If they're kind of grey or brown that's perfect. You just dont want them to be all black, or have a stark white electrode...

    1981 GS850glx (BS32SS) Air screw/tuning help needed!

FWIW, mine has larger mains, and it still pops like crazy. Could be related to the issue listed above that I never knew about. For a while I was trying to tune it out using the pilot jets. The only way I could get it to stop was to turn them WAY out. But then it would run so rich it would...

    1981 GS850glx (BS32SS) Air screw/tuning help needed!

You mean here? Mine pops like crazy as well. And I did not add any red goop. That wasn't included in the instructions. :/

    1983 gs1100 gk seat alternative

Well, good luck on your hunt for a G-Seat. The one I found was in good condition, albeit the set foam was 42 years old and hard as a brick. I found it using a saved search on eBay with notifications.

    1983 gs1100 gk seat alternative

I have an 82GK. The PO "shaved" the seat down to make it into a cafe racer. :/. Been looking high and low for an original seat with no luck. I know it'll be hard to find. I ended up finding an 82 1100G seat on ebay for $30! Plan to use it as a donor seat to re-make the original. I have a...

Can someone tell me what this wire is for or how this works?

Udate #2. I was able to use the 10v control signal from the stock TSCU to control a relay that switches the flashers off and on depending on the state of the control signal.

LED Turns WITH stock self cancelling (Working)

So I recently switched my incandescent bulbs to LEDs. Much brighter, and now I don't have to search high and low for 23/8 Bay 15d bulbs. But my self cancelling didn't work anymore. Honestly, I always thought the stock canceling was way too short at 9 seconds. So I wired up this solid state relay...

    Fairing?

Looks exactly like mine. Agreed, it looks like an Emgo fairing.

    newbie

Welcome Robert! I also have an 82 1100G (the K model). My fav bike I've ever owned! This site has TONS of resources and helpful folks and has been a huge help! One thing I'll say is check that rear wheel hub spline (in the wheel). That is a specific issue for that bike. I just replaced...

Can someone tell me what this wire is for or how this works?

Update.. So while doing some testing, I think I've got it mostly figured out. The orange wire is constant hot to the relay, and the light blue sends the flashing signal to the turn signal switch, then out to the lights. The flasher is in a "constant ready" state to start flashing. When the...

Can someone tell me what this wire is for or how this works?

82GK. I installed an LED flasher and it works fine with my LED bulbs. The self cancelling doesn't work, as expected. But that's a trade off I'm willing to accept to have much brighter signals and longer lasting LED bulbs. I can turn the signals off myself. I connected it using the O/G for...

I don't even know how it was working with those teeth! I would regularly get on it too. And I got some 77% moly.

    About to purchase

Yep. Already did. Will be here next week! That’s really the last big thing for me to check / service. After that she should be bulletproof.

Real Wheel / Spline Removal / Inspection / Replace Questions

Argh! I just ordered one. Wish I'd have known as well. No worries! And I had that exact thought.. If I could just tip the bike forward somehow, to get the rear fender up a few inches, I could have gotten the tire out that way. But the front wheel was still on. So that wasn't happening.

Real Wheel / Spline Removal / Inspection / Replace Questions

I managed to get it out by removing the final drive assembly. But a 2x4 under the stand probably would have worked as well. As per the serivice manual I removed the top shock bolts to allow the lower swings arms and the wheel to drop. So they were as low as they'll go. Honestly, I think...
