A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    This one’s got me stumped

To add to Sandys post, if the problem follows to cylinder 1 try trimming the number 4 wire and screwing the cap into fresh wire. If that doesnt work try switching 1 and 4 caps. If swapping caps makes number 1 dead youve found a bad plug cap.

    Engine oil problem

Check the oil level OFTEN before a ride or start up. And especially after a long period of storage. What may be fine today may not be so a week from now. These petcocks are rather reliable but what fails is the oring on the diaphragm. Rebild kits are known to be a 50/0 chance. KL are the best...

#3 cylinder pipe cold and oil leaking from #3 cylinder

Many here have said that .10mm is a max safe gap. I myself shoot for as close the the stated .08mm. I feel that at .08mm it will get that 5000 mark unless something else goes wrong with a valve seat or the valve pan itself.

    Valve clearance questions

I have an actual factory kit with the STEEL shim tool and it never slips off the buckets. That said, i fully agree the aftermarket ones like motion pro are pieces of crap. Theyll work well a few times but they wear quickly and then just pop off

#3 cylinder pipe cold and oil leaking from #3 cylinder

If you think its oil try lighting a wet plug with a match. if its gas it will easily ignite. Oil will not ignite so easily. Then youll know. If its gas then that carb has an issue.

    Is it a Z or D

Yes the VIN 10th digit. I was thinking it denoted the submodel for some reason.

    Is it a Z or D

I asked before and cant find the tread via search feature. May have got binned with the upgrades. So the 10th digit in the 82 850G is C. So is it a Z or D submodel as pertains to the two different wiring harnesses listed in the parts fiche.
