A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    Parts gauges

Found some old boxes with some 78 1000 gauges and a 77 750 gauge. For parts only. One of the 1000 gauges appears to have reed switch wires missing. Both have good speedos, trip knobs, lenses and fuel gauges that are usable in rebuilding a set or using these two to make one full set. The tach...

    Fuel Gauge questions

2BRacing... I too have suffered the lack of contact on the rheostat inside the sender unit. A little tweak to ensure positive contact through the entire range of movement cures many ills. While i have one open i always rinse good with carbs spray too. Very gently wipe the slider with some steel...

    Fuel Gauge questions

Is the battery fully charged? Harness side should read battery voltage so if its low then charge battery and recheck harness voltage and the jumper wire test.

Adjustment for heim joints in the shift pedal linkage? 1983 gs1100e

All you need to worry about as far as the linkage is concerned is that it doesn't hit anything when gear shifting. Otherwise you can clock it anywhere on the spline you want as long as you can get the bolt into it.

    Starter cranking slowly

Hook jumpers to car battery ..car not running. If the symptom clears it says the bike battery isnt creating proper cranking amps. Stays the same says starter motor is going away. Had same symptom on y KZ750 for a few years in spite of several batteries. Then one day it started smoking when...

    Cloudy sight glass

Ive been googling since i posted and according to Seafoams info its safe. They say add 1 ounce per quart of oil 200 miles before oil change to clean and flush gunk away. I need it on the newly finished Ninja project. Rather do this than crack open the cover just to clean the window. I will...

    Cloudy sight glass

I have heard of people putting some Seafoam in the oil and riding it a while and it cleans the sight window like new. Have you ever done this or know someone that has? Is there anything to be worried about as far clutch friction discs are concerned???

Today I broke a valve guide

Replacement guides are oversized diameter. Ream after head has cooled to room temperature. This requires the holes be reamed and i believe it is to 12.2MM. Best to heat head at 450 degrees for half hour to expand the aluminum well to make removal much easier. Use a guide tool for removal and...

Got rear wheel on and mounted the rear caliper and cleaned the swing arm while the wheel was off. I'm not so sure i like the glossy paint but for now it is what it is. May have them redone later in a semi gloss of matte. Might even look into powder coating. Waiting on my fairing reflector and i...

NOTE.. Original intent was to donate it to the rally auction down in Texas. However the rally founder decided to no longer go through the year long logistics of planning for the next year and closed it down. So now the intent is to keep it a while and see if it grows on me.
