A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    1981 GS550 Wont rev above 6-7k

Nobody here will suggest a rebuild kit here, lol. Straight pipes and pods will require more than 2 steps up in jet size. I would get stage 3 dyno jet kit, and an O-Ring set from Cycleorings.com He is a member here, and puts the o-ring kits together specifically for our bikes. Doesn't cost...

1 big air filter on ur airbox

When I bought my bike, it had K&N pods. They threw 140 main jets in it, and a few metal washers stacked to raise the needles. I don't I have to say it ran JUST ok. I rebuilt the carbs properly, and it ran great. However, I had frequent cross wind issues. When I acquired my 1100 doner bike...

    1981 GS550 Wont rev above 6-7k

Does this bike, have stock airbox, and exhaust? And I have to ask, by "cleaned", exactly how are you cleaning them? How long have you had the bike? Is this a "all of a sudden" thing, or? More details on the history of the bike are needed. You have absolutely come to the right place for...

    Ultrasonic cleaner solutions

WAY back in the day, we would soak carb parts and bodies in acetone. It eats up everything but the metal. I would think it would do really well in a sonic cleaner. I am contemplating buying one JUST for that reason. I still use acetone to clean my carbs (LET THE RIDICULE BEGIN ! ! !). I...

Carb EFI Conversion: VM or CV?

Hmmm, it would seem to me, that for a GS850, one would look for a GSXR750 setup. (easiest would be an '01-'02) I have a '95 GSXR that I would like to convert to EFI, and the same setup would likely work out great. The fun part being, FINDING a complete setup. OR, doing a LOT of research...

?82 GS650GL Petcock leaking while starting

The visible hose in that picture, is indeed the vacuum line. As a note, it looks to be automotive fuel line, and really should be replaced with a smaller hose. It sounds to me, that you are connecting that line to the correct "nipple" on the petcock. The hose that is coming up from in between...

    Converting Clip Ons to Bars

Dam Trevor, that cover looks like H3LL... I would suggest looking into swapping the upper triple, from a compatible bike. I have to think they would be the same, aside from the bar setup...

1 big air filter on ur airbox

Hmm, I used to have a picture of this setup. I have my '83 750T setup the same way you are describing. I used the (what I would call) plenum box, and fit a K&N over the mouth of that. Works very well, but you will MOST definitely need to re-jet...

    90 degree screwdriver

Yeah, now that you mention it, I had to lube it up as well. And that is EXACTLY why I was fairly happy with it (after the minor modifications). I don't have to pull the carbs out just to adjust the mixture screws.

    JohnnyL's 1980 GS550L Cafe Build

I'm thinking Brian's solution is the best way. I am personally going to try to remember those even exist. I can't count how many jambs those could have pulled me out of. Not to mention, My GS, both engines, have a couple stripped holes. Anyway, I also want to mention, that it would be an...

    Finally Returned to West Virginia

Great ride Scott. My company has a facility in Kenova. I annually have to drive out there for various reasons. EVERY time, I wish I rode my bike. Usually have to bring out a trunk full of equipment, and don't have a hitch on my dam car. I'll get out there on it one of these times. Be nice...

    90 degree screwdriver

I'm telling you. Take the handle apart, and pull that little BB out. It's the "clicking" that is losing the "feel" of what you're doing. It doesn't make it perfect of course, but it beats taking them out for a freaking air screw adjustment. Which is what I was doing until I bought this...
