I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    New DR650

Very nice Trevor, what is this item? something from JNS Engineering? That Warp 9 stuff is really nice, the engine guards are cool as they are fastened on rather than glued on. Pretty cool that Mile Zero carry all those accessories in stock rather than ordering from Procycle in the US. What...

    New DR650

Cool, thanks for the heads up, I just talked to Al by phone and Doug by email, not quite as good a deal as you got but close enough. I'm coming over on the 20th for work, so will pick it up then. David.

    New DR650

Go for it Trevor, I sold 2 DR's last year and regretted it a week later. Are there any dealer fees on top of the $5900, other than the taxes? David.

    Dropped wrist pin into crankcase??..

Try turning the engine slowly, it might fall through. There's not that much that would have it hang up, trying to visualize what might be there to have it get stuck. Try using a mirror and flashlight from underneath, if you have one of those adjustable mirrors on an extendable arm, they are...

    750 Katana Resurrection

Thanks for posting on GSR, brings back some memories for me, several of the bikes I've restored have had similar issues, many broken and stripped bolts/screws, bent rear sub frame, all the usual fun stuff. Even though it's frustrating at the time, it brings so much enjoyment when you are able...

    Accident o

Thanks for letting us know, that's a tough decision to make and I wish you a speedy recovery. We were just talking about relatively slow speed accidents, as my friend injured his ribs after a 5MPH tip over. David

    ultrasonic solution recommendations?

I use this stuff diluted 10:1 with distilled water, it's safe on carbs and brake calipers and doesn't turn them black like a lot of products. https://www.prowax.com/cleaners/C-84_Franks_Special_Cleaner.html Walmart sells distilled water pretty cheap.

How to remove seat without a key

I did quote you, even though you said not to, :p but there are 5 wafers in all locks including both the gas cap and seat lock. They are not difficult to pick as long as you have a good set of picks, they require a firm tension wrench which is wide enough to get a good turning torque on the plug...

How to remove seat without a key

Is there a code on the seat lock, if so I can cut a key for you, also what key fits the gas cap, same as seat? if so maybe a code on that. BTW The 1980 GS 1100 (GSX 1100) had the seat lock at back in the rear tail section. David

How to tell exact model/version of my newly acquired (modified) GS?

If it is a chain drive GS from 1981 then it's probably an GS1100E which is the standard naked bike (or ES with small fairing IIRC) or possibly the cruiser which is a GS1100L if they made such a bike for the US market. Anything with a G is shaft drive. The 16 valve 1100cc engine was...

    Stuck fuel cap

Thanks, that's a really early production for an ET model, if you can still read the VIN label on the steering head it would probably show date of mfg as late 1979 or early 1980. What is an X registration, not familiar with that term? David.

    Stuck fuel cap

Easy to pull apart and service, undo the screws on the back and remove the cover, watch for the springs that they don't fly, you will then expose the rear of the plug, depress the brass retaining wafer and slide the plug (cylinder) out. BTW can you provide your VIN number of your bike, should...

    Stuck fuel cap

You probably need the longer key, for sure for the ignition but I'll need to test the cap to be sure, I can cut one for you if you want. Did you test it before you installed it? Don't drill it out unless you can get a new one as you will destroy the cap most likely. David.

    My bike, GS650E doesn't exist

If you need any info hit me up, I know the 81 GS650E pretty well, the 82 is not that different. David.

    Ultrasonic cleaner size

Barely, you will need to rotate it a few times, but a 6L would be better.

    Help identifying Manufacture year

Looks like your bike is in the grey zone between 1979 and 1980 and will require a bit more research to confirm the actual model. Is the VIN label still on the steering head, if so it should show date of mfg on the top right of the label. I suspect it's either very late 79 or very earlier...

    Replacing Carb Diaphragms?

I have a set of OEM ones if you need them, bought a set of carbs on ebay but several had broken posts that were JB welded on so using them for parts. David.
