A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    First flat tire experience.

Worried about nothing, unless it's 100?+ and you're going to have it run 30 minutes or more. One thing I learned from the "S" model, it takes a looooooong time for the bike to get really hot.

And a way to keep the front wheel off the ground.

    First flat tire experience.

Probably worth mentioning that flats (on street bikes anyway) are far more common on the rear. In fact, I've never seen a front flat, as opposed to a dozen or so rear flats.

    First flat tire experience.

Good on ya for practicing, I was going to recommend that. I was lucky enough to have watched a couple of guys do theirs before I had to do one of mine.

Easier? It depends. If you want to change your gearing, it's a heck of a lot harder. :)

Royal Enfield Himalayan 411 - good tourer?

I soooo wish suzuki would do a little bigger version of the TU with the DR650 motor.

What is widest tire I can run on a 77 gs400

The English sizes and the metric sizes don't match up exactly the way the math would have you believe. The nominal sizes don't really match up to the physical, mounted sizes and (I think) the disparity is greater with the English sizes. In any case, I'd stick with the 100 if possible. As noted...

87 Honda CBR600, AHRMA vintage racer project

On the undercut, since it's not cheap to do I'd do some research on Honda or vintage race forums to see if it's needed. Some bikes are fine without it, others really need it. If you do decide to do it, these are the guys I've used in the past: https://www.murdochracing.com/parts.htm

Royal Enfield Himalayan 411 - good tourer?

True, and a nice little bike, but not an adventure bike at all.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 411 - good tourer?

I think it would be a fun little bike. I do wish it were lighter, 430lbs seems like a lot for a small air-cooled single. In general though, bikes like that are a blast. I used to have a KLR250 that was a lot of fun. Could ride it really hard and still be close to the speed limit. :) You do...

    GS850 in High Altitudes

It will make less power, but that's unavoidable in the thinner air. If you get really high (>11,000') you may get a little burbling and roughness, but it should clean up as soon as you get down to lower altitudes.

2020 MotoGP Racing - Spoiler Alert

Broken humerus, so he's going to be out a few weeks I would think. Before that crash though, that was one of the more amazing displays of riding that I've ever see. And very nice to see Quartararo get that first win.

    Front fork spring spacer

Yep, easy to do. 3/4” schedule 40 PVC, cut so that with forks fully extended and the spring in the tube the spacer is even with the top of the tube. Use a washer between the spring and spacer.

How to Modify Steering Stops for Aftermarket Bars?

I think I used JB Weld. This was on various race bikes, so it's been a while. Keep in mind though that I wasn't replacing a stop, just securing something in place that only took a compressive load. No shear forces.

How to Modify Steering Stops for Aftermarket Bars?

I haven't done it on a GS, but on other bikes I've glued small pieces of 1/8" aluminum to either the stop on the steering head or the one on the triple to restrict the movement.
