A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

loss of power. Fuel issue suspected ? Gs550e

Are the coil wires screwed tight into the coils and caps? Happened to me this summer, after working on the engine they worked loose.

loss of power. Fuel issue suspected ? Gs550e

Not enough info to diagnose online, but this summer the petcock on my 1100G became a problem. Fuel starved below just half a tank. Decided after 30,000 miles the screen was clogged, so I replaced the petcock with one off eBay. Works great now.

    1988 Slingshot GSX-R 750 Rescue Project

Spent a few hours cutting out, annealing and preparing this copper gasket. I have a NOS gasket coming all the way from Jakarta, will not be here for weeks. This copper gasket might work, and it's time to find out because head gaskets for 1980s bikes are becoming very scarce. Also have the front...

    1988 Slingshot GSX-R 750 Rescue Project

Just assembled the carb rack after cleaning. All new O rings & jets. Carbs came from a GSX750F Katana with Dynojet kit installed, Very cool I don't have to buy that. Original GSXR carbs were ok except one had an idle jet frozen solid, would not come out. So I had to buy the Katana rack. I have a...

    1988 Slingshot GSX-R 750 Rescue Project

Got very low compression readings on the bike, like 0.zero, ugh… So I had to take the head off. Saw assembly lube in all the cam bearings and lobes, somebody was doing some work. Timing chain was one link pin off. I was hoping the valves weren't tinked. Previous genius decided to re-use the head...

    Tracing Down a Vacuum Leak

Have you checked the air screws? They should have a tiny spring, washer and O ring. No O ring and they would leak air.

    1988 Slingshot GSX-R 750 Rescue Project

Some material to work with, too far gone for a restoration. That's not my thing anyway. I'll make it a racer replica, track bike. All fiberglass body, engine restored to spec, not built for racing. I have a spare 750 engine already.

    Tuner Cleaner

I just scratch cleaned and sprayed with DeoxIT 5 all the connector plugs in my 1100G. The most important was the main plug into the fuse box. Before cleaning it showed 13.1v while running. Now I'm getting 14v reading at the battery

Replace Gear Sift shaft Oil Seal?

So the shaft does not have to be removed? Just take the shift lever off and out of the way, pull the seal out and push the seal into place? Ok, I'll try it. Thanks

Replace Gear Sift shaft Oil Seal?

Yikes, it's leaking drips from my 82 GS1100G. Anybody ever replaced the oil seal on the gear shift shaft? Looks like the engine case has to be split open to slip the oil seal on from the inside. Let me know if you've done it, and how.

1100E, Buy a Rescue project or Not?

I'm seeing this and considering a buy. 1982 GS1100E Barn find, not running in years, claimed to be mostly complete, engine turns over. 30,000 miles, has title. Looks like it needs all the work, plus the unknown crap surprise. Asking $1600.

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

It's the clipons, they lowered the front end by 40mm. I also installed .9 Sonic Springs, Tarozzi fork brace, Hagon rear shocks. The bike handles so much better with the front lowered. I did all this back in 2015.

81 gs750. Is this whining sound the starter still spinning with the engine?

The bike has been neglected so long that lubrication is spotty. As for the video sound, I'm thinking timing chain on the guides maybe. Certainly if you put your hand on the starter or your ear real close you could tell if the sound is coming from there. I really doubt the starter is spinning 100%.
