A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Digital gear position ideas?

way too many diodes in my opinion. You could do with less than half - and save a dollar ;)

    Digital gear position ideas?

I have searched everywhere for at 7-segment display driven by 6 switch inputs, as used in the early GS models - with no success . You could use a "raw" 7-segment display with a lot of discrete diodes and resistors as shown here: http://www.poulzen.dk/pictures/7segment.gif but I really...

    Electriacl questions on a 550E 77 model

A 77 GS550 was equipped with a digital (7-segment) indicator. You can test the display, by connecting ground to each of the wires. If the display unit is defect - you are in trouble:eek: You might be lucky to find a used one. I have never been able to find a new one from Suzuki or others, and I...

    Shendingen SH530-12

I recently installed a SH530-12K at my GS550. Seems to work well. It is a 6-wire model. Though looks a bit older than the one you are linking to. I am at a business trip, but will be back home tomorrow if you need distances between holes, wire colours or similar. BR Stig

Bowls are full, and prime alone doesn't help:( Quote:"Why not just ride every day? ;)" Easier said from sunny California, than from rainy Denmark :) BR Stig

    annoying and strange start problem

Hi Group, I have searched and followed the site, but not found a start problem quite similar to mine. It is a GS550 from 1977 with VM carbs. Air intake is stock. Carbs are clean with new o-rings. Intake rubber new. Dyna-S ignition set correctly. Valves within spec. Compression in the lower...

    Rewiring bike...

I rewired my 550B a few years ago. I removed the old harness completely, and designed a new. This requires new documentation as well. For inspiration you could look up: http://poulzen.dk/Electrical_Diagrams_Suzuki_GS550_77_v11.pdf BR Stig

Ignition stamp for Dyna-S Replacement (ND vs KD)

According to the exploded views at Alpha Sports, the condensors are lying flat at a Nippon Denso, and are pointing outwards at a Kokusan. Like http://www.poulzen.dk/Upgrade%20to%20electronic%20ignition.pdf page 1. Best Regards Stig

    Minimal 550 Bobber Schematic

Looks good - You definitely earned the 20$;) One tiny comment/suggestion though: At the earlier 550 (with separate rectifier and voltage regulator), one of the stator wires was only connected when the headlight was on. Obviously the headlight is permanetly off in this setup. For the more...

Can I use "new" bar controls on my GS1000 build?

I did a complete re-wiring of my GS550 in 2006 (not a new copy of the harness, but a re-engineered wiring). As part of this, I put a detachabale connector-row from RS-Components.com, in the headlight housing. During the process, I changed the bar controls to "better, but still used" from ebay...

    Please help support this site!

Just made a contribution via Robert (thanks for the initiative, Robert, - it is much appreciated). Earlier I actually wanted to contribute, but hesitated because I really don't know how to transfer a smaller amount of Danish "Kroner" (we make them ourself - carving them form a chip of wood...

    Desprate quick fix needed

A good neighbour with a lathe made a Tee and a straight connection for me :) (shiny pieces) If you don't have such a neighbour, a more expensive solution could be: http://www.motorcyclecarbs.com/OEM_Fuel_Tees_C1558.cfm Best Regards Stig

Thanks to all of you for your help. It is much appreciated:dancing: I'll get back to assembling the 324 parts: but it is more fun, if you know you are doing it right. BR Stig
