If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Bike Idling With My Fuel Mixture Screws All The Way In

If adjusting the idle circuit screws makes no difference to the idle, then the idle circuits are not working, they are blocked. Your carbs need to be this clean: https://youtu.be/gPvZ7S8WCH0?si=5_E2S-OWYKzYlMoa

    Throttle Plate Woes

I have an idea that the 130 number refers to the angle of the chamfer of the plate where it meets the carb body. The throttle plates are fully closed but not at a vertical position, so the chamfer goes against the carb body at about 5 degrees angle. They do come up on eBay from time to time...

New GS1100 G Restoration Project. Rebuilding my Dad's bike

Vapour Blasting Horror Vapour Blasting Horror Can't believe the stuff that's come out of my oil passageways after vapour blasting. So I decided to drill out all the plugs in the cylinder head to expose the evil. Especially the dead end passageways. A mate of mine, spun up some...

What compression do you get on your GS ?

The higher readings in the old engine may have been due to the head being skimmed or non-standard pistons being installed. Something that would physically reduce the size of the combustion chamber. Maybe? I am very dubious of compression testing in general. More people seem to get anxious about...

    1980 GS1000ET back from the dead.....I hope.

Yes, prongs up. But looking at that pic, your butterfly valves in the carbs are way too open if this is the position they are at with a closed throttle position. Have you adjusted the idle knob? They need to be virtually closed on idle or no throttle.

Got a carb syncing tool. This is what it told me.

Make sure the engine is up to temperature and is idling nicely on its own before you do carb sync. It sounds like, from what you were saying, that you were trying to sync them with the choke on.

float height, rich in mid range 5000-7500

I would suggest taking the air filter out completely and doing the same runs as you have described. Does it still have the flat spot and are the plugs still showing rich? Maybe the air filter is choking the motor - too much oil in the filter? You do have the correct size Mikuni jets in there...

    GS750 engine seize

But what was the screech? Did something seize up? You are going to need to check those cam bearings for sure but don't discount the possibility that it was the clutch suddenly loosening up, or the starter clutch having a fit. Without stripping down the whole motor, it's going to be difficult...

    1980 GS1000ET back from the dead.....I hope.

I have some spare float bowl gaskets. I bought those kits and never used the gaskets as mine never seem to need replacing. They go on for ever if you can get them off OK. Did you replace the valve seat O rings? By taking off the little cross head screw and pulling the brass seat out? Are the...

    1980 GS1000ET back from the dead.....I hope.

Well done. Good job so far. I'm CT2 Kent, if you want to borrow an Ultrasonic. I boiled my carb bodies with some lemon juice and they came up quite good. Eventually got them vapour blasted for a really nice finish. Be very sure the aperture in the float bowl is clear to allow fuel into the...

#1 not working until warm up.

Most likely is that the choke circuit is not working on this cylinder. Takes carbs off and remove float bowl on the affected cylinder. From the carb body you will see a brass tube sticking down. This has a very small hole in the bottom of it. Make sure this hole is clean - use a very fine piece...

    Gsx1100 Gasket and Surfaces Help

Looks like the cylinder on the left is running very rich. Could be over fueling, incomplete combustion (bad compression, bad spark) or potentially oil in the cylinder (poor valve seals/guides). I would always start by making sure the valves are adjusted correctly, that there is good...

Knocking sound after valve clearance. Vid

You can still get these from Suzuki (at least we can in the UK). I think early Bandit or GSXR rockers are a straight swap ( you might have to grind the little bump off ) but someone on here will know for sure. Failing that, I could send you a used one for the cost of postage to Milano.
