A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Crashed GS550 this morning due to high rpm in throttle! Need some help...

Peter bought the headlight ears off of Fleabay. I suggested the cut inner tubes to keep them from scratching the fork tubes. The clutch cable and throttle cables were routed funny because of the clip ons.

Crashed GS550 this morning due to high rpm in throttle! Need some help...

Not to argue but I believe I labeled them correctly. Have a read here: http://www.motionpro.com/tech/articles/throttles_and_throttle_kits/ Next to last paragraph labeled "Notes." Also check the choke lever. Make sure it's doing what its supposed to. Call me and we can talk.

Crashed GS550 this morning due to high rpm in throttle! Need some help...

It's okay to ask questions. No apologies needed. The push cable is a backup in case your pull cable breaks to spring the throttle back. A lot of people delete that cable anyway. But the throttle mechanism on the carbs are already rigged to spring back to idle is there is no pressure on the...

Crashed GS550 this morning due to high rpm in throttle! Need some help...

Gabe, Don't take the carbs off. The spring is fine. I checked those carbs when I have them to you to make sure they were not frozen up. And no, you don't absolutely need to have a push cable.

Crashed GS550 this morning due to high rpm in throttle! Need some help...

Gabe, Peter did not install a return cable. If I remember correctly, he only installed a pull cable.

Crashed GS550 this morning due to high rpm in throttle! Need some help...

 Gabe, Twist the throttle. Does it snap back? It definitely sounds like it's binding. Peter (the guy yo got the bike from) had replaced the cable from a GS250. So actually it has the wrong cable on it already. he did that because of the clip ons. Sheesh... :( Try the throttle with the gas...

where to get replacement mixture screws for 77 gs550 carbs?

No. You need these kits: http://www.z1enterprises.com/detail.aspx?ID=504 Although I would just buy Ness's parts for less money. Remember it is $18 per kit. And you need 4 kits.

    tank cleaning

I bought a POR kit a little while back. It came with metal ready and marine clean. I had planned on using the metal ready but if you think the Evaporust will work better then I will buy that instead. Mind you the tank I am working on his heavily rusted inside from sitting with a half a tank of...

    GS750T will not start

So Duane came down the week before last and we worked on the bike. The cams were out of time, so they were removed and reinstalled. Timing was checked with a light. Coils are brand new, spark plugs are brand new, fuel and petcock also brand new. But the bike will not start. It cranks over as...
