DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    carburator problem

Sounds like taking them out and cleaning them really well should clear that up for good. Tapping float bowls does work, but not all the time! Good luck- Jon

    carburator problem

Chuck, I think all the 1980 550's had 8-valve engines, and in that case, the answer is no. I have a 78 GS750 with the same 8-valve engine and getting the float bowl screws off was impossible with out removing the airbox and then the carb. I know it's a pain, but just take em off carefully and...

Recommendations for new coils and wires.

Re: Recommendations for new coils and wires. Jackrp Thanks for the cheap lead for the Dyna coils. These were on my shopping list for this year's upgrades and I've never seen them cheaper than $110 from a retail outlet. I was nervous about doing ebay since you usually have no recourse for...

I polished all my cases and now they look like crap!

Domino, I was shocked to see some sort of CRAZY growth on my bike today when I went to remove the exhaust. ANYTHING that was aluminum had strange white powdery dots (almost like growths) on it. I know clear coat or wax would have prevented this, but it's "growing" on the fins of my heads...

    Sylvania Silver Star Help ASAP!!!!

Ahhhh, the 5.75 makes a huge difference. I did not know that old Suzukis ever used 5.75" headlight. Sounds like your plan for the H4 conversion is the way to go. Sorry for the confusion!

    Sylvania Silver Star Help ASAP!!!!

WesV!!!! Sylvania makes sealed beam Silver Stars. I just put one in my Vetter faring last summer. I got it at Pep Boys and it was $20. It is the H6024. It's just as bright as the Silver Star H4 setup that goes on my bike when the fairing is off. (55/65W) The only convenience of upgrading...

    KEYS

Matt, I don't know about the suzuki route, but a locksmith could do it for you with no problems. Take the gas tank lock with you to the smith and it should be cheaper thatn having the smith come to your bike. I've also been told that there weren't all that many key combos in those days. You...

Carb OEM specs as per factory manuals

Ryan, I PM'd you the specs from my 76-79 GS750 factory service manual. This manual is not near as thorough as the 80's models though. I hope the info is enough. -jon

    Exhaust Painting 101

Rico, Yes, I looked at that one. I've been contemplating on ceramic coating my existing pipe and I was not sure. Good thing here is that you got a good deal on a pipe and I am not losing sleep over it since I am going to have my pipes coated. :D I'm still looking at dave's pipe and...

    Exhaust Painting 101

Holy crow Dave, that header is BEAT! Any weird carb problems or popping noise from the can? 8O 8O 8O I see those exhausts that pop up on ebay. I've got a search set up that notifies my of anything that has "GS750" and "exhaust" in the same title. Keep your eyes peeled for something used...

    Front brake switch -77 GS750

You can still get an aftermarket replacement at CycleRecycle in Indianapolis. Looks like about $8.95 http://www.crc2onlinecatalog.com/brake_light_switches.htm You can also get a hydraulic switch that taps into the brake line itself. I've heard they are more reliable. Dennis Kirk has them...

    Firstgear Diablo Jacket

Dave, I have Firstgear overpants and I can say that I very pleased as well. When we got doused at the Brown County rally last year, the only thing that was dry on me was my legs - thanks to the pants. -Jon

    NEW type of master link

Looks like a good find Joe. I bet it's only a matter of time before the 630 links come around. I'm thinking very fondly about this link after I spent TOO long trying to get the clip on my old fashioned master link. J

    New Dyna III

Les, It's been a while since I put my Dyna in my 750, but could the timing be off? I believe you can adjust the sensors that fit near/on the crank to adjust the timing. I could be off base here, but you might want to check it with a timing light to be sure. -Jon

    Another Clutch Qestion (S)

Dave, Glad to see you're back. I just replaced my clutch assembly a few months ago following the instructions in this article. It went really well and my clutch works great! http://www.motorcyclecruiser.com/tech/clutch/index.html According to bikebandit's suzuki schematic, you have 8 fiber...

    Oil capacity for 1977 GS750?

GFD, I've got a 78 with the same motor and it is marked with 3400cc next to the oil fill. That equates to aforementioned 3.6 quarts. I agree with bandit though; you need a bit extra when changing the filter. -Jon

Has anyone else ever stripped their oil pan threads?

I have been down this alley recently. Stripped the oil plug years ago and until recently, I have just snugged it in with no problems. Well, I just took a 1000 mile trip to the Galena rally and the sucker repeatedly tried to unseat itself. I had oil leaking to the point I thought I would have...
