A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Where is a good place to buy tires?

Pete's had the best deal for BT45s last year. The only slight difficulty with Internet ordering in Toronto is that some shops either won't mount Pete's tires at all or they charge a lot more. Pete did have a deal with Heritage Autosports in North York but that shop ran into landlord problems and...

Wolo Bad Boy Horn: Holy CRAP this thing is loud!

How long does it take for the Wolo to spin up and make serious noise? Someone on another forum (can't remember who or where) had an air horn in parallel with a regular horn. A short jab of the horn button gives a toot for little old ladies and holding the button unleashes the 138dB "You're about...

    82 gs650 shaftie suspension

And what length? My OEM shocks measure close to 340 mm, but Z1 recommends 350 mm. I plan to order a pair before the bike goes out in the spring. I have Sonic springs for the front end. Jim

    cam cover end caps

Don't forget to Loctite the screws when you put the end caps on. If you don't the screws will vibrate loose and the end cap will disappear. Don't ask me how I know this. Jim

    Half Moons MUST Be Replaced???

A mechanic I know always replaces them because they are cheap and a failure means he has to redo the work for free. For home use, he told me to reuse them if the rubber is still pliable and not chewed up. Add a bit of black goo like Chuck suggests and they should be OK. Jim

New Job Takes Me To The West

Is your trailer the heavy duty folding trailer? It looks like you didn't build it to fold. Enjoy your warmer than us riding. We haven't had a killing frost yet in Toronto but the mornings are getting cold. Jim

What happened? Rennsport usually get good reviews. Jim

    Caliper winter storage

Here is a question I couldn't find an answer for. I will be pulling the calipers and brake lines off the bike soon. The brake lines will go to Rennsport to get copied with new black SS lines. I was planning to clean and refurbish the calipers at the same time. Should I install the new rubber...

    My homemade cycle lift table

Eight feet does work with standard lumber and plywood sizes, and I wouldn't have to do as much cutting. I like making my life easier! Would you suggest going wider than 2 ft? I used a couple of 2 foot wide tables at school and didn't have a lot of trouble getting bikes on as long as there was a...

    My homemade cycle lift table

Two feet wide and around 7 feet long seems pretty common for commercial lifts. I was thinking about doing a 2x7 table with folding legs for my garage. Jim

    anti-sieze

I thought copper anti-seize was not a good idea with stainless bolts into aluminum threads. Some web site (wish I could find it) said zinc or nickel based anti-seize works better. Jim

    Rifle Fairing

Looks good. I'm thinking about a Rifle for my GS650G. It's a bit pricey but will look much better than the Slipstreamer SR90 I just junked. Jim

Why does Suzuki split R/R + output between ignition and battery?

Good point. The regulator on the GS650G is bolted to a metal panel that also holds the ignitor. The panel is then bolted to the frame behind the battery box so there is an extra bolt between the regulator and the frame. The regulator sits horizontally and the mounting bolts are vertical and hard...

Why does Suzuki split R/R + output between ignition and battery?

Interesting. I was just about to order some stuff from Eastern Beaver to install my SH775 regulator. (Why are Furukawa connectors so hard to find and/or out of stock everywhere? Grumble, snarl...). My stator to regulator wiring was cooked, including a melted connector, but the positive wire into...

Series (Mosfet) R/R $60 shipped NEW ? SH775 and CompuFire alternate?

I could add a spacer if the connectors are too close to the edge of the battery box. I think I have enough extra wire on the stator leads to clip off the bullets and install the Furukawa connector. One connector, no soldering. I might get a pre-wired Eastern Beaver fused battery connection kit...

Series (Mosfet) R/R $60 shipped NEW ? SH775 and CompuFire alternate?

I bought the Polaris 4012941 (Shindengen SH775) from Ready Imports in Mississauga for $93 (Canadian) plus taxes. This isn't much more than the US prices + exchange + shipping. It arrived ten days after I ordered it. Unfortunately they aren't really set up for online or telephone orders. Now I...

    Shindengen SH775 plugs

I used the ratcheting tool from Vinatge Connections ($35) for my open barrel terminals. After a few practice crimps I was able to get consistent crimps. Jim

    Shindengen R/R Details

I think I'll get one from my local Polaris dealer to try. My bike is in pieces for cleaning and painting frame pieces so I may as well swap out my almost new Electrosport regulator for a better part when I put it back together. Jim

Got the tank and fender fixed...

It was worth asking. The clear coat on my tank is flaking near the gas cap and would be an smaller fix than your tank. One painter I talked to told me that failing clear coat means a whole new paint job. Jim
