A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Fuel Stabilzer Video

I prefer real-world experiments, so I favor this guy's approach. Plus I appreciate his scientific style. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWS6CeCGI6Q

    GS850 1979: Choke won't stay close

Owners of these (including me, when I bought mine in 1979) develop an approach like this: Pull the choke up with your right hand. Left hand pulls in the clutch. Twist your torso and press the start button with your right elbow. Off you go! No, I'm not kidding -- I used that technique for...

Must be rough! Look what we have to do to get ethanol-free fuel. The airport has quite a few (understandable) rules, with a minimum 5 gallon purchase, and can only be dispensed into approved fuel containers. Riding your motorcycle out there to the refuel station is pretty much out of the...

What does a strong spark look like?

They are, but would they cause the specific problem laid out here -- dying when hot? I can think of a number of problems that result from low compression, but not this one. Too bad we don't have a spare ignition module to swap in temporarily. Thermal problems with electronics can be a beech...

80-82 GS450 O-ring kits soon to be NLA.

As Cycleorings.com slowly circles the drain, I've decided that I have to simplify my 'menu'. Between the hassles of income tax accounting, demands of my day job and the cost of supplies, something has to go, and the first will be the kits I developed for the 80 - 82 GS450's. There's about a...

I need a summer weather mesh riding jacket

I picked up an Olympia similar to this, from this seller. Supposedly it had a faulty snap on the back elastic adjustment, but when it arrived, it was just fine. I bought mine in late autumn when prices were even lower -- think I paid about $60 shipped for what turned out to be a brand new...

How far do you ride per day on long trips?

800 miles in a day, starting early and arriving just before dusk -- but that's on a Goldwing. It depends a lot on the bike. On my V-Strom, probably half that -- and maybe a little more fun.

O-rings for carb bowl drain screw.

I offer them free with the kit, but you have to ask for them. PM me your actual name (then I'll have your address...) and I'll pop a set in the mail for you. RB

    SH775 Installation (pigtail harness)

Your reply had me laughing, but it really fits this thread!

    Front Turn Signal Ground

The eye lug has a black/white wire that disappears into the headlight housing. There are swarms of ground wires lurking in there, as well as 3-way splitters for ground leads. Now, since you're removing a Vetter, you don't have a headlight assembly yet; you're adding a headlight or headlight...

    850L rear wheel bearing removal

Pit Posse bearing removal kit. Something like this ... but you should be able to find a much better price. I think I paid about $40 for my set, but that was a long time ago.

    Z1 Enterprises fuel Tee

This size is generally known as a "Dash 11" or -011. AS568, if it matters. They are common and should be available anywhere. If you have trouble finding these, just PM me your mailing address.

    valve adjust is working :)

    1) Turn on calipers. 2) Press jaws together -- not forcefully, just press the measuring surfaces together. 3) Press the 'Zero' button, and make sure you've selected millimeters. 4) Use the roller thingy to open the jaws a bit wider than the thickness of the shim. 5) Put shim between jaws...

    1965 Honda Super Cub

That looks like pure fun, and it sure is clean! Interesting rack between the rider's knees. I've seen a few of the new versions zipping around town and they look great, but they're missing those lovely spoked wheels. Nice acquisition!

New OEM Polaris SH775 price drop

Interesting! I like that they include plenty of good quality photographs. Notice the seller's handle, too... If it's not genuine, a lot of work went into the knock-off! Reasonable price for brand new, but I was used to spending $40 on those soil-encrusted PowerSport Nation take-off units...

    1980 GS850 - Purchase or Not?

Front fender, master cylinder and signals are not original for an '80, but not a huge problem. RH side case saver looks bent rearward a bit. Really hard to get much out of those photos, but the seat looks pretty sound. My main concern would be the condition of the inside of the fuel tank...

... almost as cool as the light on the front fender. Something about useful fender-mounted hardware that just adds -- hmmm, class I guess. I love cow-catchers even more on bike fenders, especially heavy chrome. That light is just plain cool!

Zinc plating - What are you using for a power supply?

These 'new' constant voltage / constant current power supplies are wonderful little devices. I wish I could send one back in time to my teenage years! One suggestion: Shop at Amazon for now, and find a unit with good reviews. There's a lot more information about them at Amazon than anywhere...
