Has anybody installed one of these in their GS? Better yet, did you have fitment issues? I got 1 side of the Tee to fit into either carb, but the other Tee side was either machined wrong or the Orings are to thick. I have put bearing races in the deep freezer before to slightly shrink them for easier installation but fear the Orings would just become brittle. I have also reached out to Z1 to possibly swap this one but of course they are in FL and I'm in WA.

I remember having similar problems. I think I just lubed the one with tire lube and it eventually slid into place.
Either that worked or maybe I had to replace one of them. Not sure, it was a few years ago.

I tried the trusty petroleum jelly but that encouraged the oring to slide out of its seat. Maybe Ill pick up a couple viton orings at the store today.

Buna, Nitrile and Viton are all gasoline compatible. Got any tips to install?

Good info. Ill give it a try.
Heat guns and carburetors..... my favorite combination hahaha

True, but they are all suited to different applications. You wouldn't want those O rings to fail, fuel leaks are never good at the best of times and it wont be a quick fix if they do.
I have installed quite a few of these Tee's and personally never had an issue. Just make sure the orificies are spotless clean and with a bit of lube, they slide in, nice and snug.

My Z1 fuel T leaked with the orings that came with it (78 GS750). I reinstalled with the o-rings from the Robert Barr kit and have not had any trouble since.

Anybody have the size of those orings written down or committed to memory? Should probably get some for mine (stock) due to a very slow leak (more like seep)

11 OD
7 ID
2 thick
All in MM

Z1 sent me 2 different sized orings on the Tee. They are shipping me 2 more of the correct sized rings and Ill be good to go. HMMM Or go to HF and buy a nitrile 300pc set for 4.99 with an additional 20% off coupon. Im actually going to wait. haha

Thanks for the info!

I had the same problem with that Tee. The O-rings are too fat. I replaced the originals with some from a Harbor Freight O-ring variety pack. Can't remember the sizes though. At any rate, I was not happy with that Tee and wouldn't recommend it for that reason.

Tee and crossovers are great....just the wrong orings. Maybe someone with a spare from Robert needs to send Jeff or Chris one so they can order the correct sizes to send with them???

Just checked and the Harbor Freight kit and the O-ring size that fits is 6.8 x 1.9. Robert doesn't volunteer what sizes come in his kit and there is no guarantee that his O-rings will be the same size. Regarding Z1, there is no guarantee they will admit a problem either. I didn't even bother contacting them after experiencing the O-ring problem based on past experience with problems on some parts they sell. I love Z1, but they are not very forthcoming in terms of admitting fault.

After converting the metric sizes supplied by derekb to the English system and checking what the local chain auto parts store offers it looks like 5/16 ID and 3/8 OD might be a good fit. If not for having to pack everything I own on my bike I'd probably just get the HF kit and be done with it.

orings are based on two measurements..the ID and the durometer. All you need is one of Roberts kits and a digital dial caliper and youll know his sizes in 5 minutes. I have bought from these guys before when needing some one off oring.

chuck,

O-rings are sized by thickness x ID. Durameter and material type are separate characteristics.

As someone that has made my own Tee's several times before I can tell you that the depth and width of the groove, in addition to the ID of the mating hole, will determine what size O-ring is needed for the application. I've not compared the OEM Suzuki Tee size against the aftermarket version Z1 sells and I would NOT assume they are the same.

Below is a Tee I made for a Keihin CV34 carb set.

This size is generally known as a "Dash 11" or -011. AS568, if it matters. They are common and should be available anywhere. If you have trouble finding these, just PM me your mailing address.
