A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. No power from new stator??? HELP

He's UK, so it's going to be 220v, give or take; but with no load, even a sickly stator should develop SOME voltage, and it should vary with r.p.m. A measurement of zero across all three legs just doesn't seem likely to me. So -- do we KNOW the meter works?

No power from new stator??? HELP

How do you KNOW that your meter is measuring AC voltage?

    Bowl drain plug gasket

Not always! I don't know what the proportion would be, but a good number of the carbs on 'our' Suzukis are equipped with a hard nylon washer which serves as the gasket. If that's the case, you really need the correct item. An O-ring will simply squish out and cause problems -- fuel leaks...

    O-Ring Assortment vs OEM?

If you have the patience and a way to measure the ID and cross section that you need, you can try to check your results against an AS568 sizing chart; just google it. If you luck out, you'll find a 'DASH' size that fits your application. From there it's easy to find the O-ring retail. At...

Lost washer of the starter idler gear

I used a length of solid #14 wire with a 90 degree bend at the end. Just poked around in there and discovered the washer sliding around. It was a LOT easier than I expected.

Engine only starts with starting fluid

Low miles on the bike, but the clock's been ticking on the intake O-rings for 36 years. Low-cost fix. Hard starting could also mean low compression / tight valves, but at 4k, I'd address the low-hanging fruit first.

    Faulty SH775?

There's an ebay seller named "powersportsnation" or something very similar, and they carry boatloads of R/R's, including the SH775's. I've purchased a few from them myself. In most cases, they'll provide a photo of the part number on the back end of the unit.

Front wheel bearing removal- what's the trick?

There are tools that handle this chore with ease. One is made by 'Pit Posse' -- haven't heard of them lately though. You drop a slotted insert into the ID. It barely fits. You press a wedge into the insert's slot, and drive than in a little with a hammer, which spreads the insert apart just...

    Mosfet r/r?

You can find 775's on ebay from a seller with the name of (something like...) Powersportsnation. Power sports nation. For one thing, they'll show you the ID on the back end of the unit, unlike a lot of sellers. It'll be either SH775AA or SH775BA. I think one has slightly lower voltage...

    If your user name says

... and the $25 is the POST-Paypal amount. To be a "Super site supporter" you'd need to kick in at least $26.06. I think this is spelled out somewhere. Typically, the only way I get reminded that it's time to ante up is when I look at something I've posted and notice the 'Former' in the...

Trouble reassembling carbs because of Z1 alum fuel pipes

If these good folks are correct -- no reason to suspect otherwise -- that my VM interconnecting tube O-rings fit the Z1 product, just PM me your mailing address & we'll fix it. Why screw around?

Well I'm about to get a Goldwing

I never thought I'd be the Goldwing type, but look at the Barge in my sig. It's my vacation machine, and has never missed a lick. It's heavy and bulbous, and not all that attractive. I hate looking at it all winter, and I still vacillate about owning it, but one thing's 100% consistent: 20...

    Valve cover gasket removal...

Probably less expensive than my solution, which is the aerosol gasket remover (Permatex and others), but it's necessary to mask off the frame & painted surfaces. Scotchbrite is a good 'tool' for these bikes overall, and here especially.

    Tire Pressure Gauge

Wow! Possibly some PO needed to walk the bike around the shop when it was bitter cold -- like minus 20 or so -- and inflated it to 32. Once it warms to riding temperature, the pressure will be considerably higher. I don't know about 60, though!

    Tire Pressure Gauge

I have a few, and they're all digital now. I use a right angled gauge to get to the valve stem with the brake rotor so close by on the V-Strom; I need a relatively straight unit to get back into the Goldwing's valve stem (and I'm lying on the ground doing it...). I hate having to bend the...

    Thread Pitches/Bolt sizes

... and you can download free thread gauges from here: https://www.boltdepot.com/fastener-information/Default.aspx Their gauges are a lot more useful than you'd think! Also a decent place to purchase fasteners.

Tapping into power off the ignition?

You could explore a product called the Eastern Beaver "Three Circuit Solution". It's a very well-made, well thought out way to approach multiple switched taps.

To Vee or not to Vee?

Good price, with lots of goodies. I bought the DL in my sig (well, an identical copy) two seasons ago, and I absolutely love it. I'm 5' 8" as well, and I have no objections to the height of the bike. It's barely an issue. It had 6k, and I paid $4300 with brand new tires, Battlewings. So --...

    36 mm o ring?

What exactly did you measure? Did you measure the I.D. of the O-rings I sent? It's possible -- unlikely, but possible -- that I mistakenly sent you 40mm's, which would explain what we're seeing in that photograph. Let me know what measurements you've made. We'll fix this.
