DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Advice required using new table lift

I now have a new table lift. I have the bike (81 GS1000G) on the centre stand. One of my mates uses a rear race stand on his bike lift. Others have recommended against it. Any thoughts or recommendations. With the 1000G the rear on the pumpkin side doesn't seem to have a good spot for the...

Compression tested engine cylinders. 3 good, 1 bad. What to do next??

The above advice is the first step. It is most unlikely you will need to get into the motor apart from the valve cover. these motors are bullet proof but the most neglected issue is valve adjustment. get them right as a first step and your motor will start more easily and get up to operating...

    GS400 rebuild in Australia

Z1 Enterprises gave me great service. i'm sure others will have recommendations as well. i have't had the need to do a full motor rebuild. However lots of recommendations for OEM base and head gaskets on this forum. These are the gaskets most likely to leak and require an additional tear down...

    GS400 rebuild in Australia

The GS400 is a great bike, it was my first road bike in 1978 after many years of two stroke trail bikes. Buying local or overseas can be a mixed bag from my experience. I've done both successfully. Suzuki Australia spares are based in Melbourne and ships to dealers in capital cities overnight...

    New to the GS Forum

Braided steel brake lines are one of the best bang for your buck modifications you can do! Rebuild the brakes with OEM parts and replace wheel and steering head bearings. These will give you at least another 30+ years trouble free operation.

    Replacing brake fluid

This month I'm completing a major service on my '81 GS1000G. The bike has completed 69,000 km or 42,000 miles. I have replaced the bevel drive and differential oil and then replaced the brake fluid and bled the brakes. Wow what a difference fresh brake fluid has made! The previous fluid had...

What to use in place of SAE 90a

All good suggestions Steve. I have a life time supply of Honda Moly 60. I have been on the GS Resources now since 2003 so I have absorbed most of the great advice. That's why my GS is so reliable. No concerns about going on a 1500 km trip with only needing to do the basic checks.

Overhaul of Carbs and intake system GS1000G

Steve, I overhauled the brakes with OEM parts in 2012 and replaced the original lines with HEL steel lines. The best up grade you can do on any GS.

What to use in place of SAE 90a

I've just replaced the oil in the bevel drive box and differential with Penrite Hypoid gear oil 80W-90. I used the oil initially two years ago and replaced it with fresh from the same 2.5 litre container last night. The oil in the bevel drive transfer case was like new while the diff oil was...

Overhaul of Carbs and intake system GS1000G

My 1981 GS1000G was purchased new so I know the full service history of the bike. Having completed just over 69,000 km I have commenced a major service which will be completed in parts as I still want to ride and enjoy the current great weather. I have drained and refreshed the brake fluid as...
