A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Stator cover

So, this morning I did something very stupid and tipped the bike over on its left side. Couple scrapes on the fairing, etc....no big deal, except for the massive flood of oil, because I punched a dime-sized hole in the bottom of the stator cover. 1982 GS1100E.........anybody got one kicking...

    Turn Signal swap

I like it. I had a spill a few years ago and busted off one of the rear turn signals. I replaced the back ones with some small aftermarket ones that suck - they've never worked. The plan now is to find some short stalk OEM ones (didn't like the long ones for mine). The rectangular ones on...

    The GSResources 2010 Balance Sheet

Mine says "Super Site Supporter" and that's very kind since I haven't passed any cash along for 2010. Last year, I was able to paypal someone who was making the extra effort, but I don't remember who it was. Who's providing this service (I can certainly send a check if someone's not....)?

    How much would you pay?

Well, bikes don't cost me much, but you've seen that pristine is not my goal. I've never not had one (except for a few months when I totalled a Triumph and couldn't ride in '85) since I was 14. They are sort of definitional and non-optional. But..........my brother has been shopping for an...

    How much would you pay?

So, I must've missed something..............did you at last pick up something else?

    Riding Game

There?s an old John Prine album (maybe early ?80s?) where he?s standing playing his guitar to a pile of old Big Boy statues???.I think??if memory serves??I?m old.

what did you wrench on today??

Now that would be a worthy effort - I've had no horn for the ten years I've owned this thing. When someone added an oil cooler, they just got rid of the horn.

Father and Sons Cycle Trip Vol. IV

Damn, I enjoyed that. And you did a great job of presenting it - like the daily maps. I?ve only ridden through Arkansas and Oklahoma a couple times, but never the scenic routes. My sister, for very complicated reasons, is living in Edmund and told me to come down??. Your dad looks like he...

    Beer run with a bonus!

10w40 is a little light...........well, unless it's seasoned by a couple thousand miles.

    Beer run with a bonus!

Try their Uff-da Bock if someone has it and give your opinion........ ....and of course if someone has Capital Maibock, that works for me.

    Beer run with a bonus!

I was raked over the coals once here for my elitist, arrogant beer tastes (as well as grocery list of other things)........suffice to say that I'm nuthin compared to some of you....... ;)

    1980 GS450E vs Honda Civic

Hey, I had the opportunity to slap the sh!t out of a Viper with some smug day-trader at the wheel.........he started the sh!t, but at the next light he just stared straight ahead and accelerated like he was driving an Olds Cierra.

    Carbtune.com

I ordered a Carbtune about 6 months, maybe a year, ago. About $80, came in about a week??..great. Don?t really know how to use, haven?t read the instructions. My bike runs great, but I?m sure it?d run better if I would use it. I really need to do this. And maybe install the SS brake lines...

Bought an 82 GS1100E parts bike today

Damn, I think rthat actually looks pretty slick. I have a WC fairing on my '82, but I have an immaculate 1150ES fairing like that in my attic. A few years ago, I thought of cutting it down to mount it like Claude's, but that actually looks like it belongs on the bike (I hate frame-mounted...

Real Gasket on GS-ES models, and 1150s etc

I?ve had no movement or leakage problems with an RG on my 1100. Hap had warned me about the torque. I bought a nice low-torque wrench used for bicycles from Performance Bike. ? I think it?s a Park Tool.

    Mesh Pants Review Wanted

I don?t have any overpants. My commute is only a few miles, so I just wear khakis, jeans, whatever I?m wearing to work (suit pants sometimes?). Accidents never occur on short commutes, of course.* I have some mesh First Gear pants ? I think they?re called Mesh-Tex. Fit perfectly, much better...

    Chain replacement or something else?

I suck at most technical issues, but at least on this one, I might have some competence for no other reason than years on a bike??. Chains never wear evenly ? they ?stretch? (euphemistically) more in certain spots than others. I think this may relate to engine pulsing, but I really have no...

    MotionPro Chain Alignment Tool

Like I would even f***in? know Bob?! Actually, it turns out that, illogically, the spacer appears to fit properly on the outside of the spacer. When I get this tool, I may found out I was wrong, but many including you told me to go outside?Chris at Z1 also (though their site says...
