A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    changing sprocket sizes

I don't know the exact numbers but the previous owner put a larger rear sprocket on my 83 750 and I find that it really sucks. While city driving I have to shift every 10 feet. (ok not exactly) and on the highway at 100 k the motor is up around 6k. I am sure there are plenty of reasons for...

    Will this work?

Hello, I have an 83 750 kat in bad need of a carb rebuild. I also have an 82 with many missing cosmetics but the carbs are there. My thought were to pull the 82 carbs and give them a thorough going over and just install them in the 83. That would allow me to continue to commute to work and...

Coil relay mod end all thread!!!!

I got my coil voltage up to 11.5 by cleaning and lubing connectors. I also did a mod on the relay thing by running a wire from the battery thru a spare accessory sw to the coil input. That way i can switch it off or on. The spark went from pale yellow to blue.:) However after all the rewire...

    testing a starter

2 amps? Probably not although I am not an expert. I have not looked in a manual but they might give the current draw for the starter. Try it off a battery if you can. Even a car battery if you are just doing a quick test. The starter (unless it's bad) should not draw more current then is...

    fuel or electrical problem?

Well it turns out the misfire is still there. My short test ride down the backlane yesterday wasn't good enough. Rode to work today and it now misfires lower at around 5k. My next step will be to get sufficient voltage to the coils, probably on the weekend. If I get 12 volts to the coils...

    fuel or electrical problem?

misfire is gone:D It turns out I was missing a part on the airbox. The top opening which I thought the seat sealed was supposed to have a screw down cover on it. I was removing the tank off the 82 parts Kat I have and saw the airbox cover. Light bulbs started going off. Put the cover on the 83...

    fuel or electrical problem?

update Checked the coils just now and secondary impedence is 35k and 33k. Primary is 4.2 and 4.6. According to the manual I downloaded from Basscliff's site (Thanks Basscliff) those numbers should be in the ballpark. I am using a 1983 GS750 manual. Not exactly the same but it seems pretty...

    fuel or electrical problem?

Thanks for the replies. I was being sarcastic with the "strong yellow spark" comment. That doesn't always come through in electronic format. I should be able to check the voltage at the coils this afternoon. After several other mandatory jobs.:( Will update later. C

    too much oil

Hello I did a oil and filter change on the bike and forgot that my centerstand is slightly bent. As a result I poured in too much oil by the time I saw it in the window. The information by the oil filler cap states 3200 ml and I dumped in 4000 ml. Should I immediatly drain some out...

Not sure if your motor is similiar to mine but watch the stator wire. It was really easy for me to rip the gasket on mine. Nothing more money and time didn't fix. C
