    40 Volts from regulator

Was the red wire disconnected when you checked that voltage (40v). I think it should be connected. I believe the red wire floating will cause problems. Bad reading and possible blow an R/R. Eddie V

    Carb Sync Question

Thanks a bunch Hampshirehog. I guess I'll put the longer ones on the inner cylinders if I can. Then the hose connections will be about the same spot. Glad I asked. I don't want to start wrecking it. Thanks. Eddie V

    Carb Sync Question

I just received my syncronizer. It's the motion pro model. It came with 2 short brass adapters and 2 longer ones.I don't understand why they're different lenghts. Are they meant to be cut or bent to fit. Also shouldn't the total length of hose adapter etc, be the same on all cylinders from the...

    82gs1100gl. Diode issue. Electrical wisdom??

Update and Fix: Well, I did install the diode correctly. But it was shorted like you said. Shorted by yours truly. Apparently when I fed the wires into the clear tube I managed to short the leads together. So now all is well. Thanks for all the help...

    82gs1100gl. Diode issue. Electrical wisdom??

Thanks a bunch guys. It sounds like I must have wired the diode backwards. I forced a low oil indication by grounding the line and I'm pretty sure only the oil light came on. I did this when I first noticed the problem and I'm not positive if only the oil light came on. I was just happy to know...

    82gs1100gl. Diode issue. Electrical wisdom??

Thanks. I understand that. I just can't figure out from the wiring diagram how the diode is functioning in the circuit and if it even applies to these lights. I first thought it functioned to turn the lights off after the engine is started. I can't follow it though.

    82gs1100gl. Diode issue. Electrical wisdom??

My "side stand indicator light" and "oil pressure indicator light" function as one light. In other words: 1) With bike running and side stand down, both lights are on. 2) With bike running and side stand up, both are off. I had the diode disconnected among most other connectors for a previous...

    Ugh...electrical problems...

A couple of things I can mention from past experiences that may or may not help. Re: starter :: Years ago I changed my o-ring on the starter to try and fix an oil leak and in reconnecting the starter lug I overtightened or jostled it enough to crack the bakelite insulator inside the starter...

    Odd problem today

See the recent post titled "Did I kill my petcock". I posted a picture there to answer a carb hose question. As you may know we can't post the same pic twice on this site so I couldn't attach it here. It is from the basscliff site as someone said. Hope it helps. Eddie V

    A minor electrical quirk

Thanks. Yeah, I finally found that diode during my last electrical issue. It is in the headlight bucket. I'm still not sure what it does but I think it has something to do with how the indicator lights come on for testing during the "ON" but not running condition. Then when the engine is...

    A minor electrical quirk

Hi to all and thanks for all the help with the last electrical problem. Here is what I have. My "side stand light" and "oil pressure light" seem to act together. 1) With bike running and side stand down, both lights are on. 2) With bike running and side stand up, both are off. Main concern...

    "Signal" fuse blowing - 82gs1100gl

Yeah, it looks like the horn ws shorting out to ground. I buttoned everything back up (horn disconnected of course) and the fuse hung on. I had replaced that horn a couple years back. I know the replacement was not original suzuki and actually sounded lower than the original horn. I'll start...

    "Signal" fuse blowing - 82gs1100gl

I can't thank you enough. I think I may have found it. After disconnecting about everything I last disonnected the horn and low and behold. I thought the connectors under the tank would have disconnected that circuit. Anyway, my horn has 2 black wires going to it. Removeing one did nothing and...

    "Signal" fuse blowing - 82gs1100gl

Hi guys, Just came in and was going to fill you in. Yes I already have a schematic and I've already disconnected most anything I can see associated. Here is where I am. The orange/green wire from the fuse box connecter now seems to have a dead short to ground. I have the fuseblock...

Thanks a bunch. It blows as soon as I turn the ignition to "ON". I can watch it open as I turn the key. Thanks. Eddie V

    "Signal" fuse blowing - 82gs1100gl

Hi, Thought I caused a short while getting the carbs back on but can not find anything. I had the headlight bucket off to just check and have spent hours troubleshooting the wiring and I'm lost. I disconnected the battery and basically looking for a ground short. I see about 1 ohm to ground...

is there a way to rebuilt carbs without having to sync carb

Well, I just installed my carbs after a rebuild and the bike sounds really good. I didn't ride it because I have an electrical issue which I'll post separatly in a bit but I totally agree. Do a complete rebuild. It took me a few days but I'm glad I did it. Eddie V

    Warning-warning

He's right. It happened to me once also with a fram ch6000. The internal diameter of the rubber was too small. I brought it back and we compared there other filters and only this one was smaller. It did look a little different though. If I remember right the stamp of where it was made was...

is there a way to rebuilt carbs without having to sync carb

I'm not an expert but I just rebuilt mine and from the way I see it as long as you don't separate the carbs, mechanically the syncronization should remain the same. You can change the jets without separating them also. You of course won't be able to dip them or clean them to well because of the...
